Because. Something /has/ to happen with each issue, or it wouldn't be so
interesting to compile.

So to prevent anything else from going wrong and breaking in the build
process of The Shadowrun Supplemental #12, I've released it. You can grab
it at http://tss.dumpshock.com, in both PDF and HTML formats.

(and now I'll rediscover all those typo's that I fixed in the PDF file and
then lost when I had to regenerate the whole thing..)

It wouldn't be too bad if my new upload had actually fixed everything.
Unfortunately, it didn't -- it has been brought to my attention that page
46 of the supposedly error-free file gives an error that prevents the
printing out of NAGEE 9...

I am *this* getting close to throwing the towel into the ring and stopping
my DTP activities entirely because I am utterly sick of having far too
many hard- and software problems that IMnsHO shouldn't exist in the first
place, but I'm not quite ready for that yet... So, as a last attempt to
fix this issue (any bugs after this are simply tough luck for anyone who
happens to find them, and I mean that) I'll re-PDF the entire issue but
leave out the links and bookmarks because they take about two days' work
to put in. In other words, it'll be a file intended for printing out and
not for browsing on-screen. If you want bookmarks, you can get Acrobat and
put them in yourself...

*phew* Rant over, I guess :) If you've got a buggy version of NAGEE 9 (you
can check by PageDown-ing from page 1 to page 92), download it again after
reading this message.

BTW, in case anyone is wondering (I already had one person point this out
to me, thinking it was an error): the blank space on page 16, where it
looks like an image should be, is intentional.

Is that an attempt to cheer me up by hinting that I'm not the only one
suffering from these sorts of things? :)

Just open Man and Machine and look at pages 102-123. ;-)

TSS-12 was largely painless, actually. It would have been even easier if I
didn't delay the release for a month while waiting for dumpshock to launch
(I had already finished my site and embedded links to it), and then I got a
last minute review of Brainscan and had to throw that in, and that threw
off the page numbers, because I do some wacky shit with Pagemaker "Books"
to make sure the page numbers are the same throughout the regular and
"lite" versions of the magazine. And there were a few other issues, but I
honestly can't remember them all. <g>

(And I just found out about the first "Show Stopper" error in TSS. I
accidentally put a forward slash instead of a backslash in the SwiftOne
Speaks file (http://tss.dumpshock.com/html/tss-12/art12-j.htm), and while
IE is smart enough to automatically flip-flop it around, Netscape doesn't
do so, so I didn't notice this until Mark just pointed it out to me. Both
the online file and the ZIP of the HTML version are fixed.)

True, true... Though I'm now wondering if FASA has ever suffered from
corrupted files that set work on a sourcebook back by about a month.
