I recently was at teetot, searching the Beelzebub directory for
stuff on _any_ game, and didn't see anything like this.
What's the directory and filename?

That's not surprising. Here's what I saw there on Monday morning:

Subject: ls -l /pub/Beelzebub/Role-Playing/Shadowrun on teetot.acusd.edu

Armaments
Average Successes
Character_Sheets
Drugs in Shadowrun
Flashlife
Frequently_Asked_Questions
NAGEE
Programs
Shadowrun 2 Errata
Shadowtalk

Notice that the ls -l hasn't given file sizes, or indications of what is
a directory. And if your ftp software is anything like mine, you'll
find there's no way to fetch the files whose names contain spaces.

Who looks after this? Would they feel like addressing these problems?

I have found that to access the files you put quotes around them.
for example : get "The Name_of the File"
that will do it.

No, that didn't work; nor did the use of patterns. Nothing worked.
The problem was not at this end, but at some intermediate point, (I
assume). Since you're closer, and going through fewer intermediaries,
you may have avoided the problem.

Who looks after this repository? Are they willing to fix it?

if you are looking to switch to directories w/ spaces use:
cd "<directory w/spaces>"
and to get files
get "<filename w/spaces>"

they have spaces because they can be accessed through gopher

--Phlatline

Look, it's like this. From Australia, at my site, we don't have
direct connections to the States. So gopher is out, and ftp is
out. It's not interactive. I can't `cd' to the right directory,
nor can I `get' files if they have spaces in their names. I can't
`"' the names. I can't batch up a series of cd/get/<etc.><etc.>
commands to be executed at the remote site.

I am trying to point out that this problem occurs solely because
of spaces in file names. Note that it's only a problem for distant sites.
If the people that look after the Shadowrun files at teetot.acusd.edu
don't care about it, well that's just tough for me and others in my
position. (Shrugs.)

I'm just asking, who looks after these files, and are they willing to
rename the files to avoid these problems? Please don't post back
saying that I can get the files by simply doing `x'. I can't.

Instead of ls, try dir. Its like the UNIX 'ls -l' command, and
on some servers like 'ls -l -F' as well.
As for the spaces, type get as usual, but put the filename in
quotes. This will get it for you.

Also, if for example the filename were something like:

This is a file

You could do something like this:

cd This\ is\ a\ file
get This\ is\ a\ file

Just insert a backslash before each space, and it should work
correctly.
