Can anyone with the first Matrix sourcebook post what the standard UMS for
the matrix is e.g. Persona, files, nodes, other stuff- as this is unlikely
to be covered again as most systems have switched over to sculptured systems
in 2060+. Which is a complete bastard when your trying to run a game set
further back in the early 2050's.

Cheers.

I don't think there was any UMS for persona and such. They were
almost sculpted to appear as "something"

Quote SR1 page 104: "The appearance of your Persona is pretty much up to
you, within certain limits. First, your Persona will always have a
"technological" look to it, whether it be a silver-skinned siren, a
high-tech knight in electro-armor..."

"Your size remain "Human" in scale to the Matrix. That towering database
you are about to hack into will stay towering whether you look like
Little Bo Peep or Tyrannosaurus RoboRex".

"A Utillity program can appear in any form, but it must be proportional
to it's rating. An Attack-1 cannot appear as a megaton nuclear field
howitzer".

ICE: (descriptions more or less stolen from SR1)
Access: A barrier of shimmering light -tiny alphanumeric characters
swirling.
Barrier: Wall of jagged, pulsing lightning bolts.
Scramble: A softly glowing light across the entrance to the datastore.
Black: ??

According to Virtual Realities: (judging from the color pages).
Blaster: Swirling lines of energy, entangled into each other.
All Trace ICE: A hovering orb. (Red)
Killer: An orb (blue) surrounded by lightning.
Tar baby: A black and blue orb.
Tar pit: Pillars. Where the middle piece is missing. So the top is
hovering. Why this is the default?? I dunno..
Black Ice: No standard, all are custom jobs.

Please note that sculpting has appeared since the first Harlequin
adventure. Maybe earlier. They just weren't the norm.

Files: I would say they looked like semi-transparrent greenish hovering
cubes.

If you are interested in the UMS for the different nodes let me know.
