Anyone here wondering what the universities are like in 2054? Just
wondering if anyone has made a run on one yet.

not really..with the advent of the skill and know softs i am sure that
things in the education system changed drastically
i would venture to guess some sort of non-jack in methods af inputting
data to the human brain have been perfected and time in the class room is
either a thing of our time or for a reason totaly different than what we
use it for
i would think something like the play it while you sleep audio tape
except on a much more efficient scale [jonny troll put your edu-visor
back on and relax in your couch so you will be able to absorb your lesson
properly..you know how your figiting slows things down....]

Okay, here's my take on Universities in 2054: There aren't any!!!!!
Well, that's not entirely true. But like so many other things, schooling is
only available to the people with money, and higher learning is probably res-
tricted to coroporate wagelsave families. Even then, it might just be the
higher ups who get the chance. Anyway, this being the case, I think making a
run against a university would mean, basically, running against some slighty-
less-powerful-than-normal corop security.

of all.

I dont' know, it doesn't have the same effect. Wagner rules for the
aerial aural bombardment.

I run a campaign set in the Pacific Northwest (Vancouver of course)
and (ahem) The Department of Heremetic Studies has one of the
largest Magical Groups in the area. The runners don't get a lot of
use out of it though; the strictures are not really condusive to
working in the shadows.

I spelled condusive wrong, didn't I.

No matter how good a skillsoft is, knowing the actual skill will always
be preferable.

A lot of people in my family are educators, and from what I've seen, the
trend is toward teaching thinking skills rather than outright technical
abilities. The ability to conceptualize a problem and its solution is
more important that simple knowledge of facts, especially when the facts
are readily available on pocket secretaries and the like.

Actualy, it's kind of like role-playing games in general. Our characters
substitute for skillsofts, but we stil have to come up with plans and
deduce information before using them. I may have a Decker will Computer 12
but unless I can figure out likely places to search and fit information
together, I'm pretty useless.

No, it IS MIT&M. Read the history part of SRII where is tells about them and
UCLA as being the first schools to offer thaumaturgy majors. Hey, could we
speed up the process a little? I am going to college next year and my best
bet so far is CS (submajor=MUDding?).

But in The Grimoire it is called MIT&T as in Technology and Taumaturgy.
Yet anothere example of FASA's excellent continuity.
