It does. Holland is only a tiny part (2 provinces of the 12 we have) of the
Netherlands, although many foreigners still call our country Holland. Most
non-Hollanders find this very annoying. I myself don't care that much.

You can get .com/org/net domains almost anywhere, as the checks that used
to be made a few years ago aren't done anymore. I would assume time
concerns are the reason for this.

No n. Just .ca

Not always... look at my email address? I'm in Australia. So is Robert
Watkins, whose email address is at mincom.com - it doesn't always hold true.

Welllllll... it's not *exactly* freemail, you know. :-)

My domain is wandata.com - Wandata is a *very* small ISP in south
africa. When the company was created, the directors decided that a .com
domain was nicer than a .co.za domain, so they shelled out the extra
cash to get registered in the states. Our national provider's domain
(which most small ISP's here connect through) has a domain of saix.net -
also a South African country. Then, one of the countries biggest
service providers, Internet Africa has iafrica.com as their domain.
Should I continue?

I agree. I know several Dutch or Belgian organizations that have .org.

And what about all those hotmail/freemail/iname accounts etc., people all
over the world have them. Same goes for forwarding adresses for webpages,
etc.
