As I said, everything I had was gone.

I contacted the sysadmin, and she said the most recent backup was about
13 days old. This is not good, but it could be worse. I did manage to
save a couple of files, most notably the FAQs for all of the lists, but
once the files are restored, I'll have about 48 hours or so of rebuilding
to do (lots of scripts lost).

Look at that, the prick even stole my .signature.

We think we know who it is, we might even be able to get him.

The bad part is, as I feared, I did lose all of the reseach for my thesis.

*sigh*

I am going to get myself a really stiff drink now and try to wash the
adrenelin out of my system. This is most UN-FUN.

Rob,
I'm sure I speak for everyone here in saying that we're sorry and we'd like to
buy you a drink( don't know where you are?) Hope you get the rotten little
bastard. That kinda stuff really sucks.

This message is for Thomas Deeny, (Faux Pas), sorry to post to the list, don't have his
E-mail address.

Have you heard anything more on our SR Almanac idea? Just curious.

If you mean the Shadowrun Almanac, all I heard was what FASAMike told me way
back when ... it was an idea that was kicked around, but shelved or dropped.
I think Mike was thinking it's a sourcebook update, but it's really a world
update - places, people, and events. It sounded like it was discussed and
put aside in the days of Dowd.

Hey, what do others think? Would you be interested in a sourcebook/magazine
format almanac that updates some of the location sourcebooks and introduces
new things/events/people/threads into the Shadowrun universe? Let FASA know!

The original discussion that we're talking about came from the various
sourcebooks - yeah, we know what Tir Tairngire is like - in 2054, but it's
2057 now. What's happened? And how about a hint of what's going on in
Australia? And is UCASMil still camped outside of Chicago?

What Mike has done since coming onto Shadowrun Developer, is institute long
threaded plot lines into the SR offerings, which do update some of the
sourcebooks. Check out the entire UCAS 2057 Election - over the various
sourcebooks that came out since Mike assumed the DLOH mantle, the Bugs as a
threat have been updated (adventures in some of the adventure packs told of
some of this, as did the Bugs section in Threats).

He's also using the Shadowland interface at the beginning of each sourcebook
to do a bit of the updating - as well as foreshadowing future supplements.
My guess is the San Antonio dig is going to have something to do with the
Flash Points sourcebook/adventure book.

They don't need to if we have people like you to tell us as soon as it
happens :)

(BTW, I was reading an old Arcane (a British RPG magazine that was
published until early 1997) and in their section on web sites it listed
FASA's as, and I quote, "where latest development in the gaming world are
discussed and forthcoming products previewed"...)
