Thanks Adam! Wow - the "Little Black Book" IS coming out - excellent.
Good to see that SOTA was such a sucess its having to be reprinted
already. I'm really looking forward to SSG, while theres been updates via
SOTA, SONA etc, theres hasn't been a lifestyle book since "Shadowbeat"
(not that I'm complaining, just commenting!). I admit to some ambivalence
towards the SoE, but then I didnt get SONA, either, and I still have
memories of the London sourcebook. Oh the horror..;-)

Then you are missing out. In my not-so-humble opinion, SONA is one of
the best Shadowrun supplements ever.

Hey Jürgen,

Would you mind outlining what you think is good about it? There wasn't
much debate on the list regarding it, and since I rarely play/GM outside
of seattle, and it didnt seem to advance the metaplot from what people
have said, I didnt bother. SOAT gets my vota for best all-round release,
overall, something for everyone.

cheers

Certainly.
SoNA gives full descptions for all North American nations - and does so far
better than any previous products (does anyone remember the "Danchekker's
Primers"?). Some of the highlights are:

The Native American Nations: They are no longer stereotypical wilderness
areas where you can poach and/or lie low when Seattle is getting too hot for
you. Now each of them is presented as a vibrant, dynamic place with lots of
opportunity for shadowruns, or even entire campaigns. Some examples:

- The brewing civil war in the Algonkian-Manitou Council.
- The border war between the Salish-Shidhe Council and Timishian.
- The invasion of Southern California by Pueblo.

The CAS. This one surprised me - in a good way. The CAS is not presented as
Redneck Central, full of people who wanted to go back to the days before the
American Civil War. Instead, many CASans see themselves as the last vestiges
of the USA of old - the UCAS strayed from the path when they absorbed a bunch
of socialist, welfare-pandering Canadians...

Tir Taingire: Yes, it still has Immortal Elves in it. But they are no longer
the demigods of old - instead, they portrayed as a bunch of squabbling
Fourth Age Rejects who couldn't even prevent their "ideal elven nation" from
slipping into a full-fledged recession! The borders have opened up somewhat as a
result, and shadow business is booming. Oh, and Hestaby now has taken Lofwyr's
place on the Council...

All in all, there's plenty of material for adventures in there, even if your
runners never leave Seattle. As the USA are currently finding out, events in
other parts of the world can have far-ranging repercussions...
