For a while now, my characters have had various "urban tribes" as
contacts, (chief, member ...) I don't have the NAN sourcebook. Is there
a good descriptionn of what an urban tribe is? Is it just a glorified
gang, or is there something deeper?

just a question

We've played it as something in between a Gang and a Tribe...

For a decent description, read the Secrets of Power Trilogy. Ghost has an
Urban Tribe, and Robert Charrette does a good job of describing it and
brining it to life...
