Ok, I know you want this topic dead, FL, but I wanted to post the specifics
on the new law...
Guns Outlawed:
Intratec (usa) Tec-9 and Tec-22
Uzi (israel)
Ingram M-10, M-11, M-11/9, M-12 (usa)
Fabrique Nationale (belgium)
AK-47 (soviet Union)
Galil (israel)
Street Sweeper (usa) and Striker 12 (South Africa)
Colt AR-15, Sporter (usa)
Steyr AUG (australia)
Baretta AR-70 (Italy)

ok, there are NOT many non-military uses for such weapons and the fact that
they are outlawed is not necessarily a bad thing altogether, the problem with
the law is in its fine print...

Also banned:
Guns with a detachable magazine and any two of the following:
=folding or telescopic stock
=pistol grip on a rifle
ºyonet mount
=flash suppressor or threaded barrel
=grenade launcher
ºrrel shroud allowing shooter to grasp weapon with two hands
=pistols with magazines outside the grips
=shotguns with fixed magazines holding more than five rounds
=handguns weighing 50 oz. or more unloaded.

ALSO PROHIBITED:
=Magazines holding more than ten rounds
=exempts 650 other guns!!! ****************
=Doubles the penalty from five to ten years for anyone using a banned weapon in
a violent or drug-related crime (this is actually a good point)**

WHile the law may have some good points (even though I may personally dis-
agree with it, I will recognize the validity of some of its features), it is,
without doubt, a crock of drek that blatantly lies (with the help of the news
media, the same people that destroyed Jim Garrison's career when he attempted
to investigate the Kennedy assassination) to the American public. The HEAD-
LINES say "19 guns banned" but the small print says "hundreds of other guns
of all types affected." This law and its provisions outlaw almost 75% of all
guns currently on the market (but the media will never tell you THAT!)

Ah well, I guess I better run down to the shop and buy a IMI Desert Eagle
and a Steyr AUG "assault" rifle while it's still legal to, that way I'll be
ready when the revolution occurs. (BTW, Dodger, you forget my past, I have
connections that can get you past the NSA anyday, so just drop me a line!!)
Another note, the "responsibility" teaching DOES work. In my community,
one must attend and pass a gun safety course before one is allowed a carrying
permit. It works, now they just have to make it for ALL gun owners, we'll
all sleep a little better.

Actually, The news in my area actually did say that more than 200 guns would
also be made illegal be the bill, of course we come from THE most liberal place
in Arizona (notorious for being VERY CONSERVATIVE) plus the fact that it is
rather close to large Hopi and Navajo reservations.

I do agree though, The government likes an ignorant populace - Our founding
fathers didn't though - they didn't want the ignorant to vote - I personally
don't think that was a bad idea.

At a glance, I would venture to say that the Heckler and Koch MP-3
is still legal? They pack some punch. Used by the SAS here in England.

Your past? What past? ;) *whispers: Private me... ;)*

Only those limited to burst fire, rather than full auto. Or even
single-shot, I dunno. Also, the SD variant is still illegal.
D*mn _fine_ piece of hardware, that.

Sorry, Doctor, but only the semi-automatic version could be
legal. Burst-fire is absolutely illegal unless you qualify as a city
police force, or a government agency. All civillians get is one round
per pull of the trigger.
