I find that the PC gets used for:
notetaking [its easier than paper]
sound effects [.WAV files played at appropriate moments]
CD control [background music]

Occasionally I'll scan in an image and show it to my players... but not
often.

I find that for most games a basic CD player and my old 286 laptop will
do, as sounds effects can be more trouble than they are worth. I only
really use JUST the desktop PC for big games. Such as HB.

I wonder if it would be worth writing a general Shadowrun GM assistant
program. It would need to be either Windows or OS/2 for me...... as those
platforms make accessing multimedia devices easy.

Any ideas anyone?
