Question:

Does the limit of dice you can use to enhance spell effects from your
magic pool also apply to dice gained from spell purpose foci and specific
spell foci?

(Note that power foci also adds to your magic attribute, thus allowing you
to use all the dice from the focus when casting a spell.)

Does anyone have a clear reference to a rule covering this?

Presently I am allowing the unrestricted use of dice gained from foci
for spell enhancement purposes but ...

Also: Does the restriction apply to dice gained from totem advantages? Or
elemental aid? Fetish Foci?

I would say let them use as many dice from each extra source as they have
magic attribute. Ie if they have a MA of 9, then let them add up to 9 dice
from magic pool, 9 dice from spell purpose foci, 9 dice from specific spell foci
( note this is from all spell purpose and specific spell foci, so no getting two
level 9 mana bolt foci, you could only use one), 9 dice from elemental aid and
9 dice fetish foci. As to totem advantages I would add this last of all.

Now this would allow you to throw one hell of alot of dice into one casting,
but if things got that serious then you would need every dice you can get.
Also that have this number of dice from all these different sources would be
highly unlikely for any mage/shaman. Picture this.. " Gee I just got shot,
well what foci do I have with me, a mana bolt foci, a combat foci and an
air elemental on aid sorcery. Oh well....Urk....THUD."

Your magic pool is equal to your sorcery skill (or specializations) + any ACTIVE
power foci. Shamans also receive conditional bonuses to their Magic Pool. The
maximun dice you can use from your magic pool (to cast spells) is equal to your
magic attribute (don't forget that foci add on to your attribute).

So a magician with a magic attri of 8 and a active power focus 3 can you up to
11 extra dice in casting a spell. Since the magician has a socery skill of 10
and 3 extra power foci dice - the extra to dice must be left over for drain,
spell resistance etc

Spell Foci - spell foci (specific spell foci + spell catagory foci) give an
additional number of dice equal to their rating. Like dice pools, once the spell
focus dice are used, they are gone until the beginning of the MAGE's next
action. Treat these dice LIKE magic pool dice for refreshing and so on.
They should NOT, however, simply be added into the magic pool, as they have
limited specific uses. --- Please do note that all of this was DIRECTLY from
the book.

Totem Dice - the are extra dice for use at the moment the spell is cast.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
noticing how vague this is - I would say that totem dice would allow you to
exceed the magic attribute maximum - after all, you also get penalties.
ie above magician is a shaman (lion) he could use up to 13 dice for combat
spells, but only up to 10 dice for health spells.
