Hey Everyone,

The group I gm for is on a nasty run and one of the players has
commented that they're
"Gonna take the money from this and buy a week sipping drinks at a
resort"
The player has come to me and ask what resorts still exist for them to
blow their cash at.
So far I know Vegas still exists, and there is Free Fall. Am I missing
Any?
Thanks

Other than adding Hawaii (described in Paradise Lost and House of the
Sun) and Miami (touched on in several places) to your list I can't name
any specific locations. On the other hand, other than taking into
account changes due to SR back history, I would imagine there are plenty
of options out there. I would guess there are fewer "resorts" as far as
the actual number of them in operation than there are today and a higher
proportion of them are oriented toward the wealthy and their 'needs,
wants and desires.' Look for places that tend to have resorts today
that are in 'relatively' stable portions of the SR world and you are
likely to still find resorts of some sort there.

Some places that my players have gone are the following: Las Vegas
(Ute), for the obvious reasons; Palm Springs (CFS), for some good
golfing, sun, and trying to hob-nob with very important people; St.
George (Ute), which I consider to be a sattelite city of the Salt Lake
Megasprawl, and is also a good place to go golfing, sun, and mixing it
up with big-wigs; New Orleans, just for the atmosphere, and all things
easy. These are places where my PCs have actually gone to have a good
time and blow a little nuyen. One other place my players went was in
the Salish Shide, near Seattle. They were actually on a job to nab some
guy. There was a ski-resort that was turned into a nature resort which
catered to medium to high class Seattle/white folk. I figured that some
of the NANs would resort to tourism, gambling, and similar activities to
attract revenue that can be either taxed by a tribal council or run
directly by a tribal state. I figure that the SSC would be big into
that, as how many of the native reservations today near Portland and
Seattle are into Casinos and attracting the White man's money. I know
this personally, as my dad does business directly with many of these
reservations where he helps them develop their land and build casinos.
These are a few ideas and possibilities.

You know I'm just shocked, /shocked/ that no-one had
mentioned the Carib League yet. I meam, you've sun,
beaches, fancy drinks with umbrellas and piracy. What
more could you ask for? :) And if your Fixer should
happen to ring up half way through and ask you for a
little favour whilst you're in the area... ;)

You mean your characters actually have money to burn?

Most of mine start off with a million nuyen of tech and toys and get them
blown up by the end of the first mission.

The only time my characters get a vacation is when they are in the vat
getting a clone limb or replacement organ attached and spend time in the
matrix (most of my characters have datajacks, even the mages).

My characters idea of a vacation is some place you don't get shot at, in
squat not infested with paranormal animals.

Well they are kinda bunkered down for a long fight and they are talking
about how they are gonna spend their money.
Amazingly, using the money from the current run to improve toys/skills
hasn't come up yet, but sitting in a resort has.
I think I'm possibly the only GM (probably not quite) in the world who
has to encourage my players to improve themselves. ^_^
The otaku in the party wants to use the money from the run to buy an
RV, because "It'd be neat".
