I spent a little time thinking about essence. here is what I think.

A vampire who is magicaly active has a magic of 6. When his
essence goes higher then that, the magic does NOT go up with it. To
increse his or her (or it's) magic the said vampire would have to either
become an initiate or use a power focus.
I still admit I have not come to a satisfactory conclusion to
what happens when the vampire's essence drops below 6. The way I under
stand the way magic and essence work implies that the magic would drop
too. Then it would be gone for good and the vampire would have to
work to bring it up again. The result of this would be that the vampre
would be that much more desperate to keep his or her essence up then
it would normally. While this would make very interesting rolreplaying,
it seems a triffle unfair. So the other idea I had was that when the
essence goes down and the magic goes down with it, it comes back when
the essence is rasied up again. But at a slower rate. Say one point
a day or so. While this is more fair, magic loss is supposed to be
very traumatic and then this system creates a quandry with the ease of
magic recovery.
Both systems have advantages and faults that even out, so I am
as yet undecided. Anybody got opinions as to with system would work out
better? The help would be apprecieated.
