For those who really don't know, vegemite is a spread available in
Australia. It's basically a substance known as "yeast extract". This means
that after they have finished making the beer, they scrape up all the dead
yeast and, um, yeast "by-products" (what they produce after eating), put in
bottles with yellow tops, and sell it.

It's foul, and tastes like it is... dead yeast and yeast faeces.

**Abashed look* Now, I know Australians walk in the sun all the time, but...
_this_?

Man, and I thought I had a sick mind.... *S* I'll stick to purple kangaroos
(Who are _not_ to be flung about with either catapults or spells, BTW)

Umm... I wasn't joking. That's what Vegemite is. Mind you, penicillin
(another wonderful Australian invention) is basically that yucky mold on
bread.

(There's a similar product in the UK, Marmite (sp?), which is basically the
same).

Anyway, let's get back on topic...

And verily, did Robert Watkins hastily scribble thusly...

Australian?
Are you sure?
I thought the person who discovered Penecillin was British.
(Alexander Flemming wasn't it?)

Yes, you are right. In 1928.
