I was working on converting some stuff from CP2020 to SR for an upcoming
game, and came up with this:

(Created while converting the Bensen Violator Hovercycle)
Chassis
CF
Handl Bod Armor Start Max Auto Sensor Seat Entry Design Pts
Hovercycle 4 3 0 2 17 3 3 1e o 2,505

(To save space in the chart, Pilot, Setup/Breakdown Time and Accessories
are omited. Their values are NA :)

Powerplant
Speed Accell Load Economy Fuel Size
Start Max Start Max Start Max Sig Start Max (Starting) Design
Pts
JET TURBINE
Vector Thrust
Hovercycle 180 600 10 25 187 377 3 0.25 0.4 2,000 145

Mark-up 2 (as opposed to 2.5 for other vector thust vehicles. 1.25 might
also be appropriate.)

If I come up with any other vehicle templates during the conversion
process, I'll post them. As it currently stands, the hoverbike with the
base stats (ie, nothing added) costs a little over half a million nuyen.

BTW, I am aware of Gurth's Chromebook conversions (I'm using it as a
reference), but I want to customize the conversion to my campaign and
review them in case I don't agree with Gurth's conversions (in some
places Gurth places the value of one euro as 10 nuyen and in others as
100 nuyen and in still other places the value of the euro drops to ONE
nuyen! ... Talk about market fluctuation! i can see why he'd do it but I
don't agree with it. :P~). Thanks Gurth.

According to dghost@****.com, at 0:26 on 20 Nov 99, the word on
the street was...

> Hovercycle 4 3 0 2 17 3 3 1e o 2,505

I used the normal Small Hovercraft chassis and powerplant for it. It seems
to fit rather well, IMHO.

The reason for that fluctuation is because of the difference in prices
between SR and CP2020's items. The way I arrived at the SR prices was to
compare the converted item against an existing, equivalent SR one, and
then setting a price that retained the "flavor" of the CP price while sort
of matching the SR price. Vehicles and cyberdecks are exceptions, in that
the prices for them come straight from the existing SR formulas.

Anyway, if you convert all the prices at the same ratio, you'll end up
with some very cheap and very expensive pieces of equipment.

Initially upon reading them, they seem "okay", but I have a question ...
again something that isn't covered in SR very well. What kind of
chassis/seating does this thing have? I mean, is it a "cockpit" or is it
"open frame"? If it's open frame, then the maximum speed had better be
reconsidered because of the limitations that the (meta)human body has to such
stresses.

Uhm ... no. K, you DO realize this chassis' top speed translates to about
150 mph? Why would the metahuman body have problems with that when bikes
today go that speed or faster. (I think a friend of mine had an Italian
racing bike that went 200+ mph)

And "o" for entry points means open (I think you knew that). In this case
(though it's not neccesarily the case) it also means motorcycle seating.
:)

I think you're right. I used the VT LAV chassis and modified it because I
thought it actually was an aerial vehicle. However, upon reinspection,
nowehere does it say that. I'll have to reconvert the hovercycle. :)

I know. I said I understood why ...

The hovercycle, because of my misconception was my biggest beef. I'll do
it the same way you did prolly, with my game setting in mind. :)

If I was reading it correctly, the template was listing a maximum game speed
of 600. That is considerably faster than 150. I may have been misreading
however.

It is not entirely clear, but the sentences "equally at home on the road
or on the water" (in the description) and "chimerical crossbreed between a
motorcycle and a hovercraft" (in the comment) made me think of it as a
hovercraft. I even managed to get the SR price exactly the same as the CP
price using the hovercraft chassis :)

But not everyone may know that :)

I wouldn't mind seeing what you come up with.

Except that I misread the stats for fuel capacity. When I did those
numbers, I looked at the fuel capacity, I looked at the zeplin instead of
the L VT UAV ... OOPS. :/

Well, you can always have a VT bike with aircraft droptanks ... :/
