Well, if it might help tip the balance... I'm a GURPS fan and here a
small
input on the statistics of GURPS Vehicules

For one, the vehicules are built tking for account every pounds,
no way to fit 25 elves with bodys of 1 in a small car.... :-)

After creation most "constructions" stats can be forgotten and a=
system
translation would be possible... lets see (for those who are interested...)

Generic Van (TL7) p187

<<< TL7 means tech level, 7 is now, TL8 would be Shadowrun>>>

Cost 13 490 $ <<< lets say ¥>>>
design mass 3793 lbs. <<< about 1720 kilos>>>
max cargo load 2035 <<<923 kilos>>>
Radar signature +3
IR signature +4
accoustic signature +4
<<< something in the range of Shadowrun Sig =4 - (avergare GURPS Sig /2)
here that would give us 2 (i'm improvising here so this leave room
for later ajusting >>>

top speed 98 mph <<<about 158 km/h>>>
acceleration 5 mph/s <<<8 km/h/s>>>
deceleration 10 mph/s <<< 16 km/h/s>>>
MR 0.75 <<<here it stands for ground maneuver rating: This is the number of=

gravities the vehicules can safely pull when maneuvring on the ground.>>>
SR 3 <<<Ground stability rating>>>
<<< lets take a look at these... the higher the MR and SR are the lower
the handling should be... base 8 - SR -(0 if MR=0.25 1 if
0.5=<MR=<.75=
and 2 if
greater than .75. Finaly adding one if there is an autopilot. This gives us=

a base hancling of 4 >>>

gets 27 miles per gallons <<<11.5 km/liter>>>
contain 20 gallons <<<75.7 liter>>>

lets see whats missing...
off road handling <<< if no off roads suspension *2 base handlng
speed <<<divide the top speed in KM/h by 1.2 for the SR top speed
the "base" speed is 3 times acceleration divided by 1.2>>>

APilot<<<this would depend a lot on the sensors, the computer and the
program on board the vehicule, this is where a GM call should
be used . The GURPS autopilot would cost a lot where the SR=
equivalent
is common. Anyway this van is TL7 no autopilot here..>>>

Body <<<a fast comparison would give 1 body = 100 HT this give the van=
a
body of 3>>>

Armor <<<This could be a problem, a fast comparison between barrier
rating, and
average weapon damage would gives (an headache, the SR weapons
damage level
are'nt really logical, these are eyes values)
take average the DR protecting the vehicule from all sides,
1 to 5 : 0
from 6 to 50 : armor = DR/10
51 and + : add +1 /20..

This finaly gives us...

Hand. Speed B/A Sig APilot Cost
Generic van 4/8 20/150 3/0 2 0 200¥*
seating: 2 bucket, 4 bench
access: 2 standard + 1 sliding and 1 back
Economy: 11.5 km liter
Fuel: IC/75 liter
storage: 81 CF

* If you can find a 1995 van in working order, it wont cost much...

This gives us a system relativly easy, giving us "realistic" results and
very flexible...
I don't think this was to hard to translate from one system to another...

Just my 2¥ on the subject... ;-)

Only problem, from what my "contact" :) told me, the design rules are up for
an overhaul because there is something not quite right with them (don't look
at me, I've never played GURPS).

This sounds OK, maybe I will buy the book :)

Well, major overhaul is maybe a big word, after all if you look on
the net, the Steve jackson games errata on GURPS Vehicules is only about TEN
PAGES LONG!!! 8-0

Most of it is details, fine tuning and other details, thing that
did'nt make it to the final version and some clarification. Maybe you
should wait for the second edition, but SJG is not reputed for getting their
products out on time and I don't know when it is supposed to be out.

>This sounds OK, maybe I will buy the book :)

Good, have you seen the other GURPS products ? Maybe you could get addicted
too! Watch out. ;-)

I learned two thing during my last posting
1- The " " we sometime see is when the line is two long.
2-The nuyen sign did'nt survive the posting (it became A5 i think). :-(

Then that must be why they're re-writing the book :)

I was told that it would take about 8 months -- that makes it April next
year or so.

I've read a little bit in Ultra-Tech over a year ago, but that's about it...
However, I am nearly always on the look-out for stuff to add onto my
Shadowrun game :)
