I use the folloing way to determine threat ratings
Take a third of the dice pool and then divide the karma pool by 3
rounding up and add it to the threat.
e.g. The big time corperate hired assasin whos after the runner guts
has a combat pool of 10 and was given 150 pionts of karma to start with
this means he has a karam pool of 16
combat pool 10 / 3 = 4
Karma pool 16 /3 = 6
Combat threat rating = 10
One thing I would say about threat ratings is never use them to replace
magic pools
I would hand mages magic pool normaly buit give them a threat rating of
karma pool /3 to add to any magc skill rolls
Magic pool is too complicated especialy with shelding etc, and can`t be
simulated with a threat rating.
