Has anyone on this list ever heard of or played RPGA Virtual Seattle? I had
never heard about it until Gencon last year, and until recently, didn't no
anything about it other than that you had to be an RPGA member to play
(which really chaffs when you want to play but can't fit a slot into your
schedule). Well, I just got assigned the job of running Virtual Seattle at
a local convention, and if anyone has any helpful info about it, (other than
it's a huge campaign with characters that can be used at any con) I would
really appreciated it.

On another note, Threats will be out any day. I was at Eclipsecon '96 and
Tom Dowd was there running a couple slots of SR, and the prizes were an
advance copy of _Threats_ and _Preying_For_Keeps_. So those should be out
Real Soon Now(tm).

Anyone know if Threats is GMs-only or will it be the standard e-doc
found on Shadowland?

It's based around a set of e-docs posted to Shadowland. It's a really
good book, and something that would bring a smile to most sadistic GMs.

Threats is the newest Shadowrun sourcebook that deals with all (or most
of anyway), the major powers in the Sixth Power that have a poosible
capability of either taking over the world or seriously affecting it.
It's actually an interesting book that describes Lofwyr, Insect Spirits,
Alamos 20K, and several magical threats.

Since so many people seem to know so much about this should I assume that
it's out? So is this the book with the Earthdawn horrors in it?

FASA's ad in Shadowland #3 says Threats is supposed to be out in May --

No it isn't. It's set in Seattle, but involves the Yaks and Tir Tairnigre.

Well, to try and bring this kind of back to the topic (and not my aside)
does anyone have some info on Virtual Seattle? I know the basics of it
1). It's an RPGA event
2). You make a character that can be used at any RPGA VS event at any con
3). It's basically one big campaign run by the RPGA but with a lot of
different gm's influence.
4). It's Shadowrun based (otherwise, why would I mention it?)

If anyone has anymore info on it, I'd like to hear it. If you don't think
the list would like to see it, just private e-mail me.

I stand corrected. From what I thought I remembered from the FASA ad I
saw, I believed it to be in Japan :/

It is in one of the games, or was it the background. I am sure
that is the way Uncle Wes runs things. Next time I talk to him, I'll
ask him. I'm pretty sure she is though.

I wrote "A Late Night's Shopping" which ran as the VS session at
Gencon a couple of years ago. I had plans to write another one but the
direction of SR changed and kindof made the concept of the game
obsolete. Now Dark Conspiracy is about to be released. The new game
works better in that system, so I'll go and convert it (not really that
hard, as the original idea for the game came from DC in the first
place). "A Late Night's Shopping" originally started as a Dark
Conspiracy game as well.

I'd assume it's in one of the games, 'cuase I don't remember it in the
background sheet.

IIRC, I almost got to play that one. However, I arrived too late the
first day to play(it'd been filled up), and there weren't enough people
interested for a second go round. :(

That last sentence explains a lot :). I played that one at GenCon - not
your typical shadowrun. Entertaining tho.

It was never meant to be a typical shadowrun :) I thought I'd
leave that to someone else to write :)

I am glad you liked it though.

Hmm, I was just going through some old emails and saw back in Feb,
about RPGA dropping any games that weren't going d20 i.e. Virtual
Seattle and Living Rogukan.

At that time Chris Beilby said that the VS people were working with
WizKids and Fanpro on what the future would be. Has anyone heard any
word on the street about it?

Honestly, no clue. Rumor has it that Rich Osterhaut, the guy who ended up
running VS right before WotC gave it the axe, was going to be at Origins,
but if so I didn;t see him. I'll probably talk to him a bit at Gen Con
though if he's there, so I may know more next month.
