rules to me. If you are planning on playing in this event at GenCon or other
conventions where it is offered, use the rules below to generate your
starting character.
Character Generation
-All characters receive a "B Priority" for "Resources"
-All characters start with a Ettiquette/Street of 3;
this may be added to with available skill points
-All characters get a "general Etiquette" skill of 1; this
means that a character does not have to pay for a
level 1 skill for Etiquette concentration
-New Priorities:
Priority Race Magic Attributes Skills
A Metahuman Human Mage 30 pts 40 pts
B - Meta Mage/ 24 pts 30 pts
Hmn Adept
C - Meta Adept 20 pts 24 pts
D - - 17 pts 20 pts
Metahumans
-No "More Metahumans Rule"
-Metahumans may use the optional allergy and severity rules.
Magic
-Magically active characters start with 35 Force points
which may be used to choose spells, and up to 12 points may be
used as karma for bonding foci
-Magically active characters may start with two spell locks, which
will each have 4 successes for applicable spells
Languages
-Starting characters start with a number of Skill points equal
to their intelligence for purchasing language skills. Characters
automatically get their native language at a level equal to their
intelligence. Elven characters may purchase Sperethiel up to
level 3 (it is not considered a native language). IE: An Elf with
an intelligence of 6 could have English:6, Sperethiel:3, and
Salish:3 (3+3=6 for the two languages and 6 for the native one)
Resources
-All characters start with 400,000 nY. This money may be used
to purchase anything from published Shadowrun sourcebooks
only. Military and Security equipment are allowed FOR NOW!
-No buddies, gangs, or followers may be purchased, but extra
contacts may be purchased
-All characters start with 2 free contacts
-If you are creating more than one character, resources cannot
be exchanged between them
-You must save enough for at least one month of "squatter"
lifestyle or higher
-All characters are SINless
-All characters have a credstick with 18,000 nY on it; this extra
money may be used to purchase items at character creation.
-Any leftover resource money is divided by 10 and added to the
credstick
Other
-Humans have 1 point of karma in their Karma Pool, Metahumans
get 2 points
-At the beginning of each scenario/gaming session, one month's
living expenses will be paid by each character (hence the
saving of at least one month's lifestyle above)
**note: keep in mind that these rules were created before FOF
came out; some items may be restricted. Also, my friend was unclear about
his copy of the rules, which stated later on that items could be purchased if
their street index was equal or less than 1.75 and cost the base times the
street index (yes, i know it should be availability). However, his GM at the
time permitted them access to anything, ie. characters could have Panther
Assault Cannons if desired. I would play it safe and be conservative (ie.
non-munchkin) about what I would buy.
