Hello all,

I am curious to know how you all feel about range modifiers and how they apply against
moving targets while using vision magnification. Please note that this is in relation to
SR2. I am not familiar with how the rules for this work in SR3 yet.

To me, it would seem to be more difficult to track a moving target while your field of
vision is narrowed.

For example, if you have your Optical Mag III in use and are tracking a target at Extreme
Range, the range is treated as Short and the base TN is a 4 instead of a 9. For a
stationary target, this is fine. But if that target starts running or whatever, it should
be more difficult to track him/her because your field of vision is quite small.

Does anyone here feel the same way? Is there a good way of modifying the movement
modifiers depending on the target's range and the level of vision magnification being
used?

Thanks for your help!

Justin

Well, not really. People do so with telescopic sights all the time. Unless
the target is moving fast enough to give fits to UNaugmented folk trying to
shoot it, I can see no reason why extra penalties should be applied to the
people using image magnification of any sort.

Mainly you have to have a steady hand and YES, if you DID "lose" tha target,
you may have to pull back to reacquire them. Cybereye magnification could do
this by thought/instinct: as you get more sure of your target, your
magnification zooms ever closer, until you pull the trigger. Or something
like.

In any event, a free action to "pull back" should work, too.
