Does anyone have a good set of house rules for disguising weapons?
The historical shotgun-cane is one example. Another would be (oh) a
minigun in a guitar case. Or a sword in a walking stick.. Are there any
tried-and-true rules sets that cover these options?

I don't think it needs a ruleset so much as a target number for shoving
the gun into the violin case.

The other examples are uses of the Build/Repair skill.

The pistol-mace was always one of my personal favorites, with the
pistol-daggers a close second.

The camera that shoots daggers/darts.

The attache case SMG in "Ghost in the Shell" were pretty awesome.

You could also go the Transformer route. "This? It's a blender. I
use it to make my vitamin shakes." Later on, "Watch what happens when
I hit the "frappe" button." <click, whir, kchunk> "Walla, it's
an
assault rifle. Time to whip some ass." :)

As for rules, I'd just use Firearms B/R and wing it on the target
number and base time based on what the character want's to do.

I think that's already covered in one of the (excellent) Plastic Warriors
netbooks, dunno which one, but I saw it in there. It's an awesome weapon,
and besides, it looks so damn cool.. :)

(BTW, is another PW book on the way? Or is the line on permanent hiatus?

Huh... considering the immense ammount of miniaturisation that would be
involved, I wouldn't consider it. Remember, your blender (or whatever) has
to turn into something that can resist the stress of firing several bullets,
and switch back intact. Too many chances to fail, IMHO. (Besides, we all
know it's a "I want Megatron" complex you got, David ;-) )

Hey, if Megatron can transform into a hand held gun, then I can
transform a blender into an assault rifle ;)

That was just an example. But you might be able to make something that
looks like a VCR on a tripod that transforms into a sniper rifle.

Someone who is extremly paranoid of Ares Super Squirts par example?

But what with the good old one shot in the Stick out of the Neo Anarchist
Guide to North America? Or, to get fictional, simply a gun build into a
pocket comp? Would be a hold out of course, although I _do not_ like the
Damage code for a hold out in SR (but thats a different story).
Rules for those could be, as stated earlier based on the Weapons B/R Skill
with either Electronics, Mechanic, Psitol, Rifle (etc), Craft or Stealth
[(Hide) for the quick stash of a gun inside a Hardcopybook] as
Complimentary as apropriate.

T# : -Weapon fits inside Component completly ___________________________4
-Weapon needs to be slighlty modified to fit inside Component (aka
the
magazine needs to be refittet, the butt needs to be removed etc.)
_______6
-Weapons needs to be moderate modified to fit inside Compartment
(aka the
Barrel needs be shortened, a Springaction needs to be engeneered
for the Blade to spring into action)
_______________________________________8
-Weapons needs to be heavenly modified to fit inside Compartement
(aka just the Barrel and the Chamber
plus firingmechanism, a blade that unfolds on
demand etc.) ________________________________________________10+

Apply the normal modifiers for using B/R skills as stated in SR3rd., page
95, BUILD/REPAIR TABLE

Well these aint house rules, but they just spring into my mind. Fire at
will.

Funny this topic should come. One of our mages is thinking about trying the
following. Place pistol in a grinder. Grind it up into to dust. Be very
carefull not to cause anything to combust. He puts it all in a bag. When he
needs a gun he casts fix on the bag of ground parts. Yes he has a high
target number for dealing with a high tech iteam. But after a couple of
tries he will succeed.

Do you mean the suitcases you can stick a weapon into? Yeah, that might be
more or less what people are looking for.

I'm busy doing too many things ATM, but I do plan on bringing out some new
stuff somewhere down the line. Most of it isn't close to being finished,
though.

That had better be a _very_ tough grinder... Firearms tend to be made of
rather strong materials.

You don't even need to disguise it as a super soaker -- all you'd have to
do is paint it to look like a real-looking toy gun (I don't know about the
US, but here toy guns tend to look like RL weapons but in bright colors so
nobody will mistake them for a real weapon). If you really want to make it
look like a toy, get a small plastic cap and make a little hole in the
middle, then stick it in the muzzle; I think it should be simply blown out
by the first shot you fire without causing harm to you or the gun.

Just don't let anyone else handle the "toy" gun, though, its weight might
give away the disguise :)

Whats to "fix"? He's got a perfectly functional bag of iron filings-
he made them himself! :-)
Point being, at the point, you don't have a broken gun, so the spell
won't work. Otherwise "fix" will turn somebody's aluminum body car back
into pop cans.

I _think_ I wrote the above, didn't I?

Assuming it was me you're quoting, yes, among the things I've been doing
is updating the Chromebook Conversions, and adding CB4 to them. The main
area I've been working on is converting the software to VR 2.0/SR3 rules,
which is a bit tricky, especially because I don't use the Matrix a lot
myself.
