Hi!

A fellow GM and my just wondered: What happens if someone takes a weapon
focus from a astrally projection Character? The "image" of the weapon
would be with the magician, projectiong. But the physical parts? They must
stay behind.. what happens now, if some evil character (*grin*) takes
that weapon from the magician???

OTOH, would a weapon focus that was placed in the physical hands of an
astrally projecting magician suddenly appear on his astral person?

My guess would be that the weapon -- or any other kind of focus -- is an
integral part of the magician's aura (Karma has been spent to bond it) so
you can't take it away even if you wanted to.

Remember that a focus is normally inactive until it is switched on my the
person who bonded it. So placing a weapon focus into the hands of a magician
will do nothing to the astral body. OTOH, if the magician would then switch
it on, why wouldn't it appear on his body?

IMNSHO, No. The mage would have to Bond the focus before it would become
part of his/her astral presence. This is SR, not **&*. There are no
pick-up-and-use magical weapons. Items with Quickened and Anchored spells you
can't take astral travelling, so they don't count for this discussion.

only if it was his and he had already bonded to it.
otherwise it would be just something to throw at you
for taking his weapon away in the first place.

*optional: you might reqire the astrally projecting person
to return and bring the weapon with him. (kind of like
having to go home to get your keys you left on the counter)

Thanks

No, somewhere the rules say that you have to have in your hand when
your astrally projecting. Just having it with you isn't enough. So I
guess that just placing in the physical hands is not enough either.
Bit its just anouther rule to change, isn't it?

1st, Thanx to all who responded to my question. I did my legwork, too,
and ask another GM (yeah, I know some here in my Hometown :-) and he
stated that the weapon "projects" together with the magician, that is,
it sends its "magical" image, all that's magic about it, along with said
magician. And it will return to the "physical" part when the magician
stops projecting. So, the GM went on, the weapon would "stay" with the
magician until he stops projecting, and then vanish.. return to the physical
parts.

I would think that you could not take the weapon out of the persons hands, as
it is just a projection of the real thing, like a decker i guess, you cant
take the combat 10 nuclear blast cannon from his haands, as it is just a
picture representing something. I dont know maybe im wrong, but hey thats
life.
