With all this talk of weapons, has anyone else gotten More Guns from BTRC
yet? Very good sourcebook for weapons for any genre or period of game.
The big problem with Shadowrun is that weapon damages were pretty much what
"looked right" and not based on a coherent system, so converting More Guns
to Shadowrun could be a problem - as I see it you have two options: keep
following FASA's what looks right method, or redo most of the weapons based
on 3G3's (Guns, Guns, Guns!) system or a similar one...
One surprising fact that I ran across while reading More Guns - the Barret
82-A1 is a civilian rifle and is not restricted (although the authorities
would probably want to know what you wanted with a .50cal "sporting"
rifle)...

Dragon Hunting.

The Barret-80 is the military sniper rifle, the Barret-82 is a civilian
model. They are both .50 caliber, but they do /not/ use the same
ammunition. The 82 uses the same ammunition as the M61 (I think) .50
caliber machine gun; the 80 uses a /significantly/ larger cartridge which
delivers more power.

Excuse me? What planet are you from? There /are/ federal, state, and/or
local restrictions on owning firearms in most areas, if you hadn't noticed.

Two reasons: bear and moose.

You'd be surprised at what's legal vs what's deadly. A lot of these mental
cas gun fiends are armed with "nothing more" than semiautomatic pistols,
the kind that most Shadowrunners only carry when they can't bring along their
SMGs. . .

Yeah, I know. I think we already had that discussion a while back... A
.50cal sniper rifle (yes, it's still pretty much a sniper rifle) firing
standard .50cal ammo still does a hell of a lot of damage... It fires the
same ammo as the M2HB MG (never heard of the M61)...

By not restricted, I was refering to the fact that by federal law you could
get a Barret 82-A1 if you could get any sort of rifle. There may be state
or local restrictions in some areas that would make it illegal to own. The
manufacturer and the Federal government didn't put any restrictions on it
(unless a law was passed recently banning them)...

Never been hunting, but .50cal seems awfully big for moose - bear maybe...

Uh, Mooses are big and ornery if you don't drop them right away,
espicially a grumpy bull moose.

Also, don't forget elephants (ye olde elephant gun?).
