I know i have seen this question asked before, but it was a long time ago.

Signature is how easy it is for sensors (and how easy to lock on to for
various smart weapons ) to notice a vehicle. Now what i would like to know
if there is a official rule how easy it is for characters to notice a car
by hearing. How noisy are the 2060 year car? If no official rule, then i
would like to know how you handle this?

I just use Signature for all these sorts of things. Vehicles in SR have one
armor rating, regardless of which side of it you shoot at, so I figure
that the single Signature rating is an indicator of how hard (or should
that be "easy"?) the vehicle is to spot in general, not just with vehicle
sensors.

Of course, specific countermeasures such as some kind of acoustic
insulation would up the TN to hear the vehicle, and the standard
Perception test modifiers for hearing also apply.
