Subject: What happened in the future ?

Right now I am working on a big plot which involves some secret service
agencies. So I like to know what happened to orghanizations like the CIA
and NSA after tghe fragmentation of the USA. What happened to their
operations in the CAS and NAN lands. I know that they still existed
during the crash of '29 and that they worked together to kill the virus
in Echo Mirage.

I happened to jumble over some of tyhe information in Paradise Lost in
the shadowrun timeline and wondered what the involvement of the CIA was
in Hawai'i when it broke loose from the UCAS. In other words, either it
must have been their work or else they definetly would have stopped the
revolution. It's a little bit hard to believe that a nation with such
enormous resources would let a small fairly powerless state like Hawai'i
slip out of their hands, especialy considering the money they invested in
the space-program lovcated their. Such a situation would have demanded
some heavy black-ops invoilvement. How about the CAS, what was their hand in
that.

Does anybody know what happened to cases like the Kenedy Assasination,
the fiules were to be released in '38. Did that happen ? What was the
public's response ?

I'm considering changing my handle to 'Questionmark'

I don't really know, the various source books only shortly mention
them. But don't forget that members of the CIA and NSA came from all
parts of the old USA, so think about it what would happen when parts
of the USA split off: at once you got a lot of possible moles in your
organisation. I personally think this would lame them for a long
time, also operations would fail very often because of those
leaks.

I also seem to remember that I read somewhere that the CIA ceased to
exist around 2030 but I haven't been able to find it back, so it
could be something from another book or game.

Don't forget that the Japanese virtually own Hawaii and that they also
have a great interest in those powerless islands. combine this with
the stuff I wrote above and the fact that a lot of things happened
shortly before and were happening at the same time to the USA, and I
think you have the reason for the successful succession.

If I'm correct that the CIA doesn't exist anymore the files
possibly never were released. If they were released (sold the
archives to a corp e.g.) I think the public response would be minimal.
It happened 75 years ago, so very few people who lived in that age
still live. Compare it to the "discovery" of the real Jack the Ripper
in England last year.

Wait...Cable News 21's ace reporter Susan Kenedy was
assassinated? She was alive on Friday, when she called in to cancel the
show we were all getting geared up to shoot....
Oh, wait, you must've meant President John F. KENNEDY! Well,
see, when Elvis Presley died his spirit went back in time and....

as far as the cia and nsa and other orgs are concerned, you might want to
wait and see what paul hume is gonna do in his book coming up...it will have
a lot of info on the dc area and probably these orgs...

i do know the fbi is still active, as can be seen from some of the published
modules (can't remember which ones) that have fbi agents in them...i remember
one of them had two cyberarms...
