Man who does not understand women is infinitely less likely to get
laid. Therefore, man is meant to understand women.

And they're both fools for thinking that women are naturally different from
men. We're all -people-, you know.

Now, can we lay off this topic before you lot manage to offend every other
female gamer on this list, since you've already achieved that with me?

Eh. You've hit on the thing with male gamers. Most of us are bitter about our

Well, alienating what females you -do- know, by making them feel they're
'different', isn't going to improve matters any, is it?

It is all perfectly understandable. The main difference between men and
women is their sexual characteristics. Your average man isn't really
interested in or even capable of going past these, so to us... er them women
are completely different :?)
Mmmm, sexual characteristics :?)

OK, Snakeyes hit on this a bit, but in truth women and men are naturally
different. Different physical makeup, different organs, different
chemicals, even different mental processes reinforced by millenia of
sociological patterns. The point is not that women are "different" from
men, or that men are "different" from women... men AND women are different
from each other and these are differences we should acknowledge, accept, try
to understand, and most importantly, celebrate. Yes we're all people, and
yes we're all different... doesn't mean we're strange, or freaks, or
unwanted, it just means we're human.

Valid point. I'm sorry if I reacted too strongly last time. It just gets my
goat that people -expect- those of the other gender to play little
dominance and manipulation games with them, to remain 'dark and
mysterious', and not be understood - in effect, to be able to keep the
upper hand in interpersonal relationships. That kind of behaviour really
pisses me off when I encounter it (even if it's not directed at me; it just
smacks of dishonesty and manipulativeness, two traits I cannot abide);
naturally, it annoys me just as much to see people expecting it to occur.
Which is effectively what the 'man is not meant to understand woman'
comment says, particularly in light of all those jokes circulating around
the net about 'what women really mean when they say...' and all the other
comedy moments of that ilk.

Sorry. Personal pet peeve of mine. I'll get off my soapbox now and stop
over-reacting, but I do think I had a valid point the first time - that men
and women *should* be able to understand each other. If you encounter one
that you can't, chances are that (s)he is doing his/her best to keep it
that way, for reasons of his/her own, and is playing games with you - and
hence not worth your time and effort. IMO, anyway.

Your wife SHOULD have said Man is not meant to understand Women under a
Hormone Directive. That's the only time I have trouble understanding
Kay. =)

Congrats. I'll crack a bottle of mead and toast the youngster that
night. =)

Speak for yourself, bucko. I think Lady J hit it pretty much on
the head, and just reinforced what I was trying to say in the first place.

Nah, there are some things that just don't make sense to each other.

When my wife has a problem & tells me about it, I automatically go into
"problem-solving mode." She doesn't want a solution. She wants sympathy. I
can't understand that for the life of me, and maybe you're different, but I
figure differences like these are why women's bathrooms have couches in
them.
