Geez. I go offline for a few days, and what am I greeted with when I
return?

About a thousand messages, including:

-One liners. (Stop wasting everyone's time with crap. Say something
meaningful! And related to Shadowrun!)

-Attachments. (Now fixed, I notice.)
-A mailer discussion spawned by the attachment discussion.
-A columns discussion " " " " "

-A thwap (well aimed, btw) (And at least there is only one!)

-Many, many posts saying the exact bloody thing.

-Sigs quoted all over the place.

-Untrimmed/poorly trimmed posts. (*sigh* They never learn.)

-Another survey.

-More on Killfiles.

-A debate bordering on FAB.

-Discussion about Bull's web page. (And none of it had anything to do
with anything that appears on his page...)

-Princess Bride discussion.
-I won't even bother counting all the spawns.

-Fargo (I see this one more time, and it's frago.)
-British Fops.

-People giving advice on list nettiquette, and then ignoring it
themselves.

Net result: most of messages read and junked.
End result: about 20% actually having Shadowrun content.

Ever wonder why some like list.member.grumpy and I get so fragging
grumpy?????

I used to find the friendly off topic banter amusing, but frankly it is
getting to be a real pain in the ass. Recent trend has been to chatter,
and very little discussion about *Shadowrun* (Anyone out there remeber
what that is? It's the purpose of this list, since most appear to have
forgotten.)

(And for those who are offended, too fucking bad. I'm pissed with the
list, so deal with it and get back on topic.)

Well chummer, at least you gave me a good laugh, there's nothing like
a grumpy somebody spilling their sour guts all over the place.
(And for thos who are offended....etc)

Anyway, what I'd like to say is that I'm completely agreeing with you,
and I promise never to post anything off topic again. And to think
someone actually dares post something about Fargo? Sweet Oricalchum.
Let's stick to the facts folks, and if somebody try to write anything
that might make this oh so harsh world any brighter, they'll be
talking to me next.

For someone who has added to many a ot discussion. You don't have much room
to talk. If you're still pissed set up some filters or go to nomail for awhile.

Run for the air-raid shelters!! Incoming!!

You're the soul of tact and sympathy. *grin*

DVixen has a point; There are about seven off-topic threads running
now, and two or three of them don't even run the [OT] in the
subject header.

I think the list admins have gone soft again on that kind of thing; Fro
was really down on it for a while, but I haven't seen hide nor hair of
him lately in that department.

Hell, I've been on this list for 10 months and I've seen nearly every kind
of discussion come up at least once.... There's nothing new to talk
about, except perhaps the [OT] stuff.

Marty

Ummm BTW, DVixen.... If you're reading this, I hope you're feeling
happier then when you wrote that post.

And once I realised how *out of control* the OT posting was, I stopped.
Pity everyone cannot do the same. (In fact, I seriously doubt you could,
Nightlife. Feel free to prove me wrong.) And for those wondering, April
1 was the last OT posting I made.

Marty, no my mood has not improved.

Czar, you want OT in the subject, you put it there. Right after someone
tells me how this thread has less to do with the purpose of this list
than Fargo, Princess Bride, or mailer discussions.

End of discussion, as far as I am concerned. See you kids in about a
month.

Glad someone did.

I was surprised to realise how much less I post to ShadowRN these days.
Mostly because I don't enjoy it anywhere near as much as I used to,
because I have to wade through a hundred posts a day: most of them
irrelevant.

There are times when I don't check the ShadowRN list's mailbox for a few
days and have to delete 400 messages simply because I don't have time to
plough through all the OT crap.

Pity. It used to be a good list.

If you want, you can keep the office of Official List Grumpy for a while...
Nice to know someone took up the torch while Spike was away...

Hey. My mailer doesn't like 80+ columns. I like to read what Mike has to
say. Somewhere in there I lost it and vented. Hopefully it won't happen
for at least another year. Sorry.

| -A thwap (well aimed, btw) (And at least there is only one!)

:)

| -Many, many posts saying the exact bloody thing.

I don't know if its because of international lag time, or if people respond
right away without checking the rest of their mail to see if someone else
has take care of it.

| -A debate bordering on FAB.

That, Grounding and Who's the Greatest are always going to pop up. Get in
there and end it quick I say.

| -Discussion about Bull's web page. (And none of it had anything to do

Well, that was more poking fun at Bull more than anything else, which of
course I had to do in public :) BTW, his page is off to a good start,
check it out if you get the chance.

Yep, that kinda sucks. You just have to hope that everyone polices
themselves and aims for 1 OT post out of every 5 On Topic ones (or less
if you can).

| (And for those who are offended, too fucking bad. I'm pissed with the
| list, so deal with it and get back on topic.)

Well, if it matters, I wasn't offended. A little depressed, but not
offended :) And it's nice to see (so far) that no one else is offended.
Here's to a good week.

Nor for you to criticize, as a quick look over the (marked) OT topics
of the last week shows. And Dvixen at least pointed out _what_ she was
pissed about (you know, ->arguments. These strange things are used in
->discussions) - something I really miss in your (quite personal) mail.

For those complaining there's no OT in the header: What for? The only
tag I can think off that would suit were ADMIN. But as this _does_
refer to ShadowRN, as we (well, at least we who like discussing rules)
want this list to continue.

I'm with Paul and DVixen on this one. I'd like to see an end to most/all
of the OT stuff. Not that it isn't occasionally interesting and not that
it can't, in some small way, apply, but that because it mostly doesn't. I
don't care about Fargo, the Princess Bride or Fizzy Pops and 7-up and their
respective relationship to SR, I want to hear about SR, and then _maybe_
all the other crap. At one time I _liked_ to read this list and felt that
if I wrote something to it, it would be read, and a discussion (ok,
argument<g>) would be able to take place. Not anymore.
