Actually, another RPG, CyberSpace (from I.C.E.), addressed this and I
kinda like how they described it.

Cybersystems were generally powered microcells which used decaying
radioactive isotopes for power and lasted years without replacement.
(replacement can be considered part of cybermaintence [are there rules
for this?])
Also Cyberware could be powered by a solar batery linked to the system.
(not sure how to handle this ... [.1 essence? cost = 10+{100*number of
sys to be powered}?])

Not in FASA books, unless you like the SOTA rules perhaps. If you want an
article on cyber-maintenance, check out NERPS: Shadowlore
(http://nerps.home.ml.org).

And where are you going to put the solar panels? On top of the user's
skull? :)

I guess I must of been thinking of R2's vehicle maintenance rules ...
hey, perhaps they can be used here... after all the Street Sam, depending
on the cyber he's got, needs to get a tune-up and an oil change doesn't
he? (nyuck nyuck)

Nah, It'd be like the chloroform bioware someone came up with, cept you
wouldn't be green ... of course, no shyness allowed (Which I believe is a
direct quote from the chloroform bioware thingy)

LOL! Chloroform bioware is bioware that knocks you out, right? :)

You must mean chlorophyll, which is the green stuff in plants that allows
them to perform photosynthesis. Not sure if it'd be an effective source of
electrical power, though... there is electricity involved in
photosynthesis, but I don't think it can be readily tapped into to power
other things than photosynthesis.

Actually on a run, a GM did turn off a char's cyberware ...

I think it's a matter of making the cyberware effecient enough (through
perhaps superconductive wiring among other things?) to require little
energy to power it. On the other hand, the vehicles' efficiency has
improved but not so much that it runs on the batteries that power your
watch ... If you want give cyberware a PF rating and economy stats and
then make the char recharge their cyber as neccesary.

Ick... maybe with say the electricity or fire elemental effects ... ya'd
need to figure out a way to 1) regulate the current so it's steady and at
the currect voltage, amperes, and ohms, and what not; 2) dissipate any
excess energy/heat ...

Lastly: no, you can't quicken a nuclear elemental spell to poweer your
cyber ... :P~
