Long time passing...

The question is the subject on this one fellow chummers. I've picked up the
3rd edition sourcebook and MitS. Guess what I noticed was missing? And I just
tried the FASA website, because I noticed mention in a couple postings of a
Critters sourcebook, and could even swear I'd seen one, but I can't find it.
Has this been released yet? Please help!

And almost but not entirely unrelated - okay so not at all - I'm wondering if
this book or anybody out there has the stats for a werewolf? I've noticed
that 2nd edition has vamps but no werewolves. At least not in the main
sourcebook.

Thanks a mil ¥.

Just like the 1st ed GM screen came with an adventure and the 2nd ed GM Screen came with a
book on contacts, the 3rd ed GM screen comes with a very detailed book called Critters. It
has information on creatures powers, combat, and even cyberware. Includes about 28 pages
of stats from Aardwolf to Wyvern.

For werewolves in shadowrun you might check the previous message thread on Lycanthrope.

<Cymon>

Did you really think it was 'very detailed'? While I have been able to live
without pictures in my gear books I was a bit disappointed in the "critters"
book. A short description is nice, but I would like full color illustrations
of each critter.. While a good GM can put the fear of god into a group with
a few well placed words, I also like to be able to give my group an image so
that I am sure everyone is getting the same picture.. I personally would
also like MORE info on individual critters, their habits, their life cycles,
etc..

Maybe I just expect to much, *shrug*.

It's a thin book that's intended to make another product sell, not a D&D3
Monster Manual... :) Though I have to agree that, especially for critters,
illustrations are important, and that's what makes the old Paranormal Animal
books handy to have.

Not everyone is a good GM...

That's what the PA books did, but they went a bit too deep in many cases,
IMHO. They've got the info you actually want, but they also suffer from the
old FASA syndrome of wasting lots of space about a single item -- two pages
per critter is too much, IMO.

As others said, it comes with the SR3 GM screen, though if you have the old
(SR1/2) Paranormal Animals sourcebooks, you can still use those. You may
need to change some of the rules for the powers slightly to suit SR3
methods, but nothing major. Critters does this for you, but it's nothing
that a competent GM can't come up with, too.

The only thing in SR that really comes close to werewolves are
shapeshifters, and they're in the SR2 main rules. If you want something
closer to the werewolf legends, then I would suggest looking in the logs
to find the messages about lycanthropy that were posted in the last few
days.

/me puts on GridSec helmet
Please switch off whatever "feature" in your mailer is making it send
HTML-encoded messages. Thanks.
