Well, our group came up with a damage code in SRI terms. But it
was the munchkins idea. He said something like this for chains:
Dmg: (Str-2)M2. But it could have two effective reaches. +1 for
close in and it could be let out to increase damage to
(Str)M2 and reach of +2. But when let out it had the
same drawbacks as the Mono Whip.
Regular whips would have effective reaches of +2. And the Dmg.
could be 4L. Reasoning: The whips damage is not dependent on
strength. Take Hercules and let him whip someone, now take Woody
Allen. Not much difference. The key in using a whip is speed of
the attack. The damage comes from the crack. Ideally you want
that crack on your target. Longer whips gather more speed and make
a bigger impact. So maybe the whip damage would be best dependent
on length.
BTW: Whips are real neat to try to learn to use. I nearly took
my ear off several times trting to get my dad's 12 footer broken
in.
