I used to think that, until I read a Newsweek article and learned the
"rule of 9", which basically just declares that different portions of
the body equal 9%....two portions of each leg, two portions of each
arm, head and torso. (I know it doesn't make sense, but.....) (it
is possible that the arms only count as one portion each, leaving
more for the torso...I don't remember)
So really there is just probably a chart where the doc (or nurse or
PA, or whatever) makes a few check marks, maybe saying Burned,
Partially burned, or not burned.
now it is just simple math (shudder)
