Couple things....
1) Who UNSUBbed me? I somehow got knocked off the list recently. Any ideas
why?

2) Subj: Re: Kill em! Mutilate them! Dispell them, even!

[about how much money they get]
sounds decent, if a little high. For a low power campaign, try giving them a
LOT less. I recently played in a high power game, with my low-power Null (I
should wind up posting him here and in TOSA in a day or 2). My character
reacted... interestingly... to the amount of money they got. "Thirty THOUSAND
NuYEN! Wow!!! Geez!!! I'm RICH! I can BUY stuff!!! Wow!", and so on and so
forth. 30K is NOT a lot for the higher level characters. My character (and I)
were shocked at how much we got! We were starting to plan on how to buy a
Stuffer Shack (tm) franchise, etc etc. Our regular group gets MAYBE 3000. Now
if only my GM will let me keep it.... (please?!:)

]this is all well and good, except for one thing: my players don't WANT
]lower level skills, they care spit about languages, etc (until they went
]through harlequin and got sent to germany) all they want to do is shoot,
]shoot, shoot...
Just for the record: they're IDIOTS!!!! There is MUCH more to RPGs than just
going around and SHOOTING THINGS! YE GODS! Hmm.... have you thought about
Paranoia? *evil grin*

]as i think i have stated already, i will do this if we start a new
]game....they picked those spells at character generation...
You can have fun. Character generation is the BEST time to set the limit on
the campaign. BTW, from looking at my postings.. I'm not trying to flame you.
Just think of these as suggestions, etc.

]guys were pissed when we started because i wouldnt let them buy anything
]with an availability higher than 6, and non sammis could only get heavy
]pistols or less, the sammis could have up to smg's...
Pobrecito! (poor baby!) As the saying goes, "Suck it up, farm boy!" It looks
like you started with a low level campaign (for the Gumbi's, at any rate), and
the mages upped the power seriously.

]it has been almost a year and a half, real time...
How much in game time? That is VERY important.

]the party has thought about starting over with new characters, after our
]email "conversation" that the party had last week, but they are very
]attached to the present characters...
I don't say as I blame them. They wanted gods, they got em. Who'd give THAT
up voluntarily? (except for me, occasionally)

] i am a gm who believes i am there to serve my players' needs, and i thought
] a year of playing these characters was a reasonable amount of time...
depends. Real time is not the same as game time. If you work on it, you can
manage to make the time a REAL bitch. Our group had a 3 (6?) month break, and
that was _barely_ enough time for us to work on our gear/skills/etc.

]sorry, too much chaos and not enough creativity/energy/time on my part...
No problemo. I know how it goes.

].... i'll hopefully get into shadowrun again down there, and if i
]end up gm-ing, i WILL be even MORE stingy on creating characters (skills
]and spells, not just equipment)...
Good idea. And good luck to ya! And remember... the armed forces have
internet, too!

well, i could have told you that...i tried to have them do more role
playing, and i always thought shadowrun should kinda parallel detective
like stories...find out who's doing what to whom, and either help or stop
it...

yes, it was pretty much under control until about 5 months or so ago (real
time)

about FOUR YEARS game time! and yes, i try to rape them for all the
monthly expenses that i can...

SOME armed forces may have internet, but it has never been at any of the
ones i've been at...well, actually, they do have internet where i am now, but
a) its in from the internet only....no outgoing stuff
b) you have to REALLY justify being on it, be doing the right
job, have the right office, etc etc etc...plus i think you have to sign in
blood....all in all, in an organization of several hundred, we only have
about 15 people with access...and IN NO WAY am i eligible...
