What? You've never heard of Gibson?! :)

His full name is William Gibson, best known for a book called Neuromancer.
The two sequels to it are Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive, together
forming a trilogy set in a cyberpunk future for which no definite date is
given in the books. There's a mega-sprawl (from Boston to Atlanta), a
matrix, AIs, street samurai, orbital stations, and more. I'd say pay a
visit to your library and get the books -- if you're into cyberpunk
gaming they're required reaqing IMO.

Righto, man-from-the-land-that-was-swallowed-by-water!
Besides, Gibson is considered by many to be the founder of cyberpunk
SciFi literature.
