-Anyways, here's the idea: The Players Guide to Shadowrun, aka Newbie's
-Survival Manual.
-
-Basically the book would be broken up into two parts. the first would be a
-typical shadowland posting, with a bunch of the oldtimers offering up
-advice and war stories for the newer runners to help them survive, and to
-teach them some manners...:]
-
-The second would be a Short run down of the SR world... An overview of a
-few of the things talked about in the various sourcebooks, as well as a
-good overview of the different general character types (Muscle, Magic,
-Matrix, and Motor-vehicles... the 4 M's:)). Also, it would give some Role
-Playing advice, include a more detailed 20 Questions (Like 50+ Questions?
-:)), and be helpful for a newbie to RPG's in general, or just to the World
-of Shadowrun...

-That's a real brief concept idea... What do you guys think?

hello all. i've been on the list for a few months, but this is the first time
i've posted.

bull, i think that's a great idea. most newbies i encounter don't want to read
the whole sourcebook to be able to play. the source book also only gives them
techinical knowledge of how to roleplay it. a condensed version with some
helpful gaming tips would increase the number of people interested in playing
in my area for sure.

That's one of the biggest reason we wanted to do something like that. We
had a idozen kids that we had to try and explain the game to, not only
rules and mechanics, but the background and world as well. Plus, once they
started playing, they had a hard time getting into the midset of the
characters. tehy treat things like Death too casually... Stuff like that...

It would just be something to help teach the darned kids and help them to
grow up and learn a little about the world.

(Sorry for my use of teh term Kids. I'm mostly referring to my personal
experiences, which involved several under 16 year old, a couple of them
running 12 and 13. These kids can try your patience something fierce.:))
