Not only has FASA updated their web page, they've bumped MitS up from a
March 99 release to a Nov 98 release! Woohoo! Now *that's* a schedule
adjustment I can live with!

I'm in shock...

Err . . . did you notice that the new material also listed The
Terminus Experiment and something else as coming soon in October '98 -
with an update date of November 17, 1998. (I would have specified which
other product was listed for October, but there site is down right now
and I can't remmeber which item it was - My husband and I made a game
this morning of who could find the most blatent and obvious errors in
the newly posted release schedule)I'm afraid FASA's website is as
unreliable as ever. I am glad to see that they are making an effort to put
up a new release schedule. I just wish it wasn't so blatently inaccurate
at the momment of posting.

I wonder why. Do you think they had some serious changes to consider
that Steve got to way ahead of expectations?

FASA's site just came back up. The November 17, 1998 update lists
First Run as well as The Terminus Experiment as having "Coming Soon" in
October of 1998 and The Gamemaster's screen is listed on the release
schedule without any date.

Given the inaccuracy of that info I wouldn't believe that MITS will be out
in November.

They were doing pretty well for a while, but everything died a month
ago. Heck - they were updating Crimson Skies once a week for a while.

Waa! I want MitS! I don't need art or even a cover - I just want it
soon!

My local game store apparently despises FASA.

I hope their reasons are unfounded. Here's what they say:

According to them some years back FASA began a policy of
intentionally announcing premature ship dates in order to drive up preorders.

Of course they also described the FASA people as a 'bunch of jerks last
time we ran into them at a con'. So it's likely a personal bias.
Nevertheless; it is true that the GM screen is fashionably late. So
I wouldn't be too hasty in rushing out to look for MitS. After all November's
half over with.

One man's jerk is another man's 'been up for 3 days without sleep so leave
me alone!' I've been known to be a jerk on the 2nd or 3rd day of a CON. :)
CONs are a bad place to judge one's demeanor.

I also agree, FASA probably intentionally pretends that a project will be
done as scheduled to rack-up pre-orders. What game company hasn't from
time to time. However, they do earn my ire at the tardiness of the vast
number of projects that were to have been released in July *ahem Corp War
ahem* and have not.

But I fear that we whine (well, I'm whining, at least) about something that
has always been, FASA just didn't have a web site that made it so blatantly
obvious.

this is the monthly release date, which is still as it was when they updated
in Oct.
My Theory: FASAInfo told is that the web-place had some kind of problem, and
that explained some of the lack of updates (they lost a bunch of stuff) the
info you qouted may be <mailky> old stuff with just the "whats released"
being
updated.
Just a theory mind you.

I am in a greater state of shock I think. I noticed the GM's screen had
nothing posted. What's the story on that one?

Anyone, Steve you out there? How did they manage a three month or better leap

Here ya go folks, the "Coming Soon" section from the website itself...

Shadowrun

#5742 - Crossroads - Coming Soon (February 99) (updated: November 13, 1998)
#7329 - First Run - Coming Soon (October '98) (updated: November 17, 1998)
#7907 - Magic In the Shadows - Coming Soon (November '98) (updated: November
17, 1998)
#5741 - Run Hard, Die Fast - Coming Soon (December 1998) (updated: November
17, 1998)
#7002 - Shadowrun Gamemaster Screen - Coming Soon ( ) (updated: November 17,
1998)
#5714 - The Terminus Experiment - Coming Soon (October 98) (updated: November
9, 1998)
#5708 - Psychotrope - In Stock (updated: November 9, 1998)
#7328 - Renraku Arcology: Shutdown - In Stock (updated: November 17, 1998)

I agree with Kama here, there are loopholes and blanks in this section alone
(be glad I didn't post Battletech up, it's kind of cute too ;). I think the
Terminus mentioning above is the really blatant mistake. I think I'm going to
mention this one to Mike M...I'm sure he'll get a real kick out of it (smirk).

I know from speaking with Mike M. yesterday that, in his opinion, things were
rather "rosey" (his choice of words, not mine) and that they were even able to
rehire three people back onto the list.

Rob Boyle, Mongoose....do you guys have any further details that could explain

MitS="Magic in the Shadows"=The SR3 replacement for the Grimmy and
Awakenings (Oh, my aching wallet:/)
Also coming are the "Cannon Companion" (or is it Compendium?) which
should contain all the nifty guns and firearm gadgets from the last few
years plus new stuff, rules, etc and "Man and Machine" which should do
much the same thing for cyber and bio ware. Expect large books (MitS is
supposed to run about $20 or so, the other two will probably be the same
size or larger). New Seattle is due out Real Soon Now, as are a couple
of other bits and pieces.

FASA raised his ire for delaying stuff, but that was about the only thing
he mentioned about them. He had a good rant on PEG, as well as his
distributor, all the little gaming companies out now, and basically let off
a load of steam on me. Then gave me a 10% discount, but couldn't drag my
purchase under $100 :/

I think this is pretty standard in every industry. You announce a release
date with some "padding", so if you're late, you're actually hitting the
release date that you intended, internally.

MitS = Magic in the Shadows: Combines and updates Grimoire and Awakenings
and also adds some new stuff.

MAM (or, as I call it, M&M) = Man and Machine: Cyberware and bioware
updated for SR3. There's probably going to be more but I don't recall.

CC = Cannon Companion: GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! Oh, and by the way, GUNS! Expect
something similar to Fields of Fire. It might possibly contain a firearm
design system.

From what I've heard, it's hardly a guns-guns-guns book; yes, it's like
Fields of Fire in that it's to be a rules expansion book with bonus
equipment. I'd be more expecting a book with new/better rules systems for
stuff, and gear too.

I think this is pretty much what FASA was implying about it when first we
heard about it.

That's great to hear, a company in the industry putting people back on
the payroll instead of layoffs and bankruptcies.

Sounds like Mike is trying to buckle down and keep the deadlines
tough, too, so here's hoping that makes the releases closer to
schedule.

Well, id any of these things ever get to South Africa, it'll be
months after release anyway. You guys in Europe and the
States are really spoiled. You have cheap prices and almost
instabt availability. Enjoy it!
