Here's some info from FASA's site. Could it be? Are they really updating the
site again?

"
7127 The Year of the Comet
4th Quarter 1999

Status: Coming Soon
The year is 2061 and Haley's Comet returns. This sourcebook covers space,
magic, apocalyptic cults, seismic upheavals and more - the question is, is
this Armageddon?

NIGHT OF THE COMET starred Catherine Mary Stewart and Robert Beltran;
Elizabeth Shue wasn't involved. I had a very large time, but it came and
went in the night.

No, it was a movie starring Tim Daley and Penelope Ann Miller about
chasing a rare bottle of wine. Pretty good.

There also was one based off a pretty bad plot of a comet which had circled
the system and killed off they dinosaurs with it's radiation and just
happened to be coming back. Those exposed to lower level of the rads became
flesh eaters. It had the guy who plays Choc-Tay(sp?) from Voyager and a
couple of girls who names escape me right now. Hey Bull help me out here. ;)

Historically, the Germans had a habit of associating the names of objects
with the sounds they made. In keeping with this tradition when cannons
were first made they became known as the bum for boom! The first 100-
pound bomb was dubbed "ein lautes Bumm " a loud boom!" After the first
atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, they called the fission device
"ein grosses Bumm " or a big loud boom!" The next obvious step was the
fusion, or H-bomb, which was pronounced
"ein grosses lautes Bumm all ist kaput!"

I would argue that the gaming world of Shadowrun is more defining the
the game mechanical rules. So, if you play in the Shadowrun world, but
use AD&D mechanics (heaven forbid) then you would still be playing
Shadowrun, just a really fragged up version.

Borders on Copyright??!!?? Oh yeah right, this is blatant if I've ever seen
it. And trust me, I've seen it. Granted, I would love to have all those
pics (no time ATM, with luck perhaps later), but it could still cause
problems.

At least they were nice enough to include artists and references where
possible.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I don't think that will be the cover for
YotC. That picture comes from the Shadowrun TCG, for Wishbone the shaman
(Uncommon), painted by Paul Bonner (who also drew the cover for
Cyberpirates, the BBB3, and VOR: the Maelstrom box cover).

FASA rarely, if ever, recycles color art for its covers. That, and it's a
fair guess that Paul only drew that picture at scale for the card. Trying
to enlarge it for a cover would really degrade the picture quality.

Are you sure? Because I could have sworn that at first, the cover art
that Amazon.com had for SR3 was just the cover art from DMZ, with the
logo from the covers of SR1/SR2 splashed across the top, a black
border, and the words "Third Edition" across the bottom, in white.

The cover is Wishbone, from the SRTCG.

I doubt Amazon did it; I'm guessing its a mock-up for catalog purposes,

Well, FASA actually has enlarged cover artwork in the past in at
least one very noteworthy instance. Larry Elmore's cover art on the
first two editions of the core rulebook was actually painted small,
and Elmore was under the impression that it was going to be reduced
even further. Larry was rather chagrined when he saw that instead of
being reduced, FASA had actually enlarged his original.

Having said all that, I have to say I agree with Jon; the image that
Amazon is using right now is most likely a mere placeholder until
they get an image of the real cover.

Very common. Check out their catalog, all the new stuff has old or
placeholder art.

It's still a really cool picture tho. (even if there's no comet in it)

It's from the SR CCG, I just don't remember which card.

Considering how cheap they wanted the Quickstart Rules to be, recycling
artwork, especially cover art (Which i believe is usually the most
expensive bit of art to a book, due to size and usually quality), makes a
lot of sense.

Actually, I remembered the other exception: the art for the cover of
the DMZ box got used for the cover of High Tech and Low life. (Of
course, High Tech and Low life was intended to be 100% recycled art,
so they've got an excuse there too.)

Ditto for me - local bookshops seem to be struggling to understand why
FASA aren't answering their mail

Amazon does not yet have updated information for FanPro LLC, and as such I
urge people to NOT attempt to order upcoming Shadowrun products - YotC,
TAL, etc - through Amazon.

They should be getting updated information soon.

According to corey mitchell, on Thu, 23 Aug 2001 the word on the street was...

Your nearest game store or game mail order company would be my guess. It's
been on sale for about three weeks now, so I'd expect most stores should
have it by now.

It's the language it was written in, so I suppose you can ;)

hey there, if you're willing to pay the shipping costs;

www.leisuregames.com

have it in stock and do do international shipping I believe.
you can order online from them, I have found them v. reliable & fast.
they are in the UK, however, so I'm not sure if they would be the closest
online retailer....

This link was posted on the list awhile back, but seems to have been
lost in the shuffle. I have no experience form ordering with them,
but it does show YOTC available for order and they will ship
internationally:

Good Luck!
