Guys, I think I missed most of the YOTC speculation
and, now that I'm back, can anyone tell me what the
"official" list position is on who Ghostwalker is? If
there WAS a consensus on that, of course. :)

The "offical consensus" is that Ghostwalker is Icewing, Dunk's brother.
Of course I could be confusing two threads about two great dragons
returning,
but I think this is correct.

Icewing from Earthdawn?
I thought they had dropped the ED-SR links...

Ghostwalker really is...

*pulls off cheesy rubber mask*

Kyle Morgan from Mecurial???

Kyle: I'd have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for you pesky
Shadowrunners, and that dog too!

Ghostwalker is exactly who he says he is... Ghostwalker :] That, and
nothing more... (Or much, much more... It all depends on your point of
view :))

Errr, yes and no. The fact is, the link is there.

However, the problem was that Shadowrun was constrained a bit by
Earthdawn. If they introduced X into Earthdawn, suddenly people started
wondering where X was in Shadowrun, etc. Things like "Where are the
Obsidimen?" It's been stated over and over that Earthdawn was not designed
to be Shadowrun's past.... Unfortunately, at the last minute (After design
was done), they decided to use a link...

The problem was, they didn't match things up well enough. Shadowrun used,
more or less, the "Standard" mix of fantasy races, so to mix things up and
help give PCs a bit more of a distinction over other Fantasy Games (Fantasy
Games were the "hot genre" around then), they added three new
races: Windlings, T'Skrang, and Obsidimen. But then they added in the SR
link, and suddenly stuff from ED is missing in Shadowrun.

I'm rambling a bit, but since this topic actually hasn;t really come up
lately, thought I'd address it...

Anyways, the link *is* still there. But it was decided while both were
still under FASA that Shadowrun would not be constrained by it. If
something that appeared in ED could make a good hook or story or could fit
into SR, then it could be used... But if Earthdawn suddenly revealed that
Dragons were really from Outer Space, Shadowrun Dragons didn't have to
be. SR picked and chose what was used.

Now that separate companies altogether own the properties, there's no real
"official" link anymore. However, that doesn't mean the past can't and
won't be expanded upon whenever it's cool. Heck, look at the critters in
YotC... One or two of them have changed a bit over the years,
but... They've been here before :]

I was going to comment on that myself. I mean, really,
of all the potential critter imports, you choose
Brithans and Shadowmants? :)

There were other choices... I wrote up nearly a dozen critters and had a
list of a bunch more, but those 6 were what Mike wanted <shrug>. Besides,
I really like the Brithan and the Shadowmant... They're a tad limited as
encounters go, since they're wilderness, but they're also nasty enough to
give PCs a run for their money (Which was my main goal for critters).

And you missed one critter from ED that I used :]

Ah, I was just ribbin' ya, Bull. :) I was just pleased
that I recognised them. :)

I'm guessing that it was from a book beside the core
rulebook, as I haven't got many of the other books and
I really don't recognise any of the others from ED.

Although if he is then he's a much younger brother; reading some of the
stuff in YOTC almost gives me the impression he's Dick Grayson to
Dunkelzahn's Bruce Wayne.

Are you posting these unused critters, or are they on hold for a future
supplement?
