been asked but since I recently picked up

You'll have to forgive me if this question has already been asked but since I recently
picked up a copy of
Cybertech (like yesterday) and have been reading it steadily I ran across a rather
disturbing reference in one
paragraph at the end of a section (specifically Page 83, 2nd column, 2nd paragraph jsut
before "Long Term
Effects") That said "Additionally, characters cannot regain lost essence by
spending Good Karma."
Did I miss a source book that outlined spending good Karma to regain Essence or
something? I think I've checked
all the sources I have available (Grim, SS, Shadowtek, SRII, even Cybertech) Only
reference I found was in SRII
under using Karma to raise attributes and it said it couldn't be spent to increase Magic,
essence or Reaction
Ratings. (allowing for initiation and increasing Quick & Intel.)

I don't think you missed anything, i thing you found the only two
references to this i can remember
Either FASA are in a muddle (possible) or they are standing on 'hey
i'm not raising my essence, only returning it to zero with karma'
before it starts.

your guess is as good as mine

I think FASA slipped up there -- AFAIK they've _never_ said you can increase
Essence by spending Karma (if you could, what would be the point of
Cybertech? :)

True, plus, in the 2nd ed Handbook, they say in Behind The Scenes that you
cannot, pure and simple. Although, it might be the case that you *could*
in 1st Ed...
