That was the very first question I _ever_ asked on this list (right after I
got flamed to the shithouse for saying Ivy's 350+ Karma Pool characters were
munchkinous :-)). And everyone flamed me for be a munchkin who wanted a "God
Mage" :-) But, anyway, the concensous was that, if you really wanted to hack
3 geasa, you could have zero Essense and still be magically active. Magical
ability was based on your Magic Attribute, and nothing else. If you have a
Magic Attribute, you are magically active still. Sure, things can affect
your Magic Attribute, like Deadly wounds and Essense loss, but it is still
the Magic Attribute which determines if you can wield the power or not.

I disagree, and I think that there is a reference somewhere that proves
I am right :)

If you can find it good luck to you, but I think you'll have trouble. Not
that I'm really concerned either way (I have yet to come accross a magician
with zero Essence :-)). About the only "yes" quote I cna get is Teachdare
(sp?) from Prime Runners, he's got a shit load of cyber and bio ware, and
he's a level 9 initiate and still has magical ability, even though he's got
pretty limited (I think its less than 1) Essense.
