Okay, people, lighten up!

In defense of myself, publicly because I've been flamed publicly:

A line from the mail header of the most recent message to me from Darknight:
From: MSUS1::IN%"ST9596@*******.SIU.EDU" "Darknight" 7-APR-1992

A mail header from a message from me to Darknight:

Subj: SR PBEM game?

So, YES, I sent email to him first. NO, I never received anything from him
after I sent the character, not even an acknowledgement that he'd received it.
When someone else said, "Hey, I sent in a character and got no response," I
said, "Hey, me too." The purpose of said post was to see if anyone knew what
was going on -- I had no clue if the game had already started without me, the
mail just wasn't working, the gm was dead, or what had happened.

I did receive one private email response to my query from someone else; he told
me that the game wasn't going to happen.

I've heard two reasons why the game isn't happening; one is "not enough of a
response." So far, I count at least four players: myself, the king of hearts,
Shadowfox, and the person who answered my query. How many players do you need
for an email game? (Personally, I figure four is just about right for my
regular [not email] campaign; I refuse to try to deal with more than six.)

As far as announcing an email game, then cancelling it after everyone's sent in
their characters, when the game's purpose is to acquire characters -- I've heard
of that happening before, though not recently. When I hadn't heard from the gm
in two weeks, I started to wonder.

By the way... I generally don't flame people (unless they try to insist you can
go swimming in armor without sinking ;) ...I try to find out what's happening
first. When the gm didn't answer, I tried the forum where I first heard from
him. Believe me, if I'd flamed people, they'd be smoking... :-)
