I recall seeing in one of the books (grimoire I think) that there is
research into combining magic and technology, but that research is barely
even in it's infancy and has yet to produce even trivial results.
Magic works in ways not entirely governed by the laws of physics.
some of the effects may (ie Toxic wave, er... I mean Acid Bomb creates acid
inexplicably, but that acid seems to work within the realm of physical laws.
eg the acid does what a chemical analysis says it should, but try making the
same acid with your corporate chemistry set...) Until there is a greater
understanding of the non-physical laws that apply to magic, there is no way in
hell (or the meta-plane of would-be messiahs) that we tech types can even
begin to think of a way to make a magic using AI. (hell, plain old AI's are
tough enough). THEN! once there is some framework (the non-physical laws)
we have to figure out how to build something electronic that can manipulate
these forces (good luck). That's where the real problem lies! Magic itself
is a contradiction, it is an art AND science. Just one of the two parts is
not sufficient to produce magic. A magic using AI (once equipped with the
non-physical laws and the gear to affect non-physical forces) would have a
good grasp of the science of magic, but not the art. The art of magic is
something only a properly gifted living being can comprehend and practice.
(which leads us into the argument of do (meta)humans have souls, and can a
soul be imparted to an AI)

On the Banshee formula: I can't argue about weather or not an astral
mage can attack the crew of the vehicle, but I can address some of the other
issues. You would most definitely need a decker to get into the thing!!!!!
I don't care if it's not connected to the matrix, it still has an onboard
computer! Have you ever heard of a dataline tap, it works just as well when
connected to a computer's comm port or even the actual BUS of the machine.
Anything as sophisticated as a Banshee would have a security system running
in it's onboard computer requiring passcodes for operation. You'd have to get
past the door locks (electronics B/R or security systems specialization)
then deal with another passcode locking out unauthorized control use. The
easiest way to deal with this is have your decker pull out his microtronics
toolkit, pop open (or cut open) some service panels until you find a computer
line you can tap, go in and reprogram the sucker with a more user-freindly
attitude. (you don't have to guess at codes or rewire maglocks if you can
change the codes to whatever you want!)
Any corp thatdoesn't have some kind of electronic security on their
LAV's deserves to lose them. And any corp that doesn't have good electronic
security on their LAV's deserves to lose them too!

>>>>>>[ Whoever quoted the dictionary definition of a panzer wasn't
using the
2050 edition. A panzer is a slang term for a heavily armed LAV!!!!
That term is derived from the 20th century german name for a tank/
tank division!!! Cut the drek and slot some more up to date K-softs,
you'll do better in you're career as a 'runner that way]<<<<<<
