i normal use a 45 pound bow (recurve) and i have seen compounds in action
now bows do not go as fast as bullets ( makes for a much more quite
attack chummers)
conversly they happen to have much more mass
the weight of an arrow head normal equals or exceeds that of a bullet
then on to this add on the weight of the arrow
(this is about twice that of the head)
(this is probably wrong, so don't flame please)
now all of you who took physics (not a four letter word but close to
it for but net ettiquette) will know that what counts is the
kinetic energy of impact this is equal to the
1/2 mass x (velocity)*2
momentum is mass x velocity
now arrows are going to have more momentum than bullets
ie they hit and keep on going
bullets are going to have more energy from that high velocity but not
much momentum (they still have alot)
also you have to figure in how much pressure is applied to how much
space (be happy we haven't gotten to this yet)
bullets have a tendency to spread out (ok they do spread out)
there by putting there force over a greater area
this also cause a lots of tissue damage (its not the bullet
that kills (well sort of) its its vibration)
arrows hit with one small compact point but don't spread
shadowrun has taken this into account in the fact that bullets go againts
ballistic armor while arrows go againts impact (which is usually much lower)
Now if you want so fun stuff
armor piercers -1 power (they aren't as badly barbed)
1/2 impact
(great againts vehicles and heavy security)
(yep thats why a troll can fire an arrow through a vehicle)
(suprathyriod + muscle aumentation + max stats == 15 str!!!!!)
(prescion bow str+4 == power 19m yep its the only weapon that effects
(a banshee by srII rules) (what fun)
(give it armor pierces and it may actually do some dammge!!!!)
explosive war heads (rambo watch out)
well you can do it like explosive bullets
or you can put on miny grenades (have fun kids)
(you might want to reduce the range) (and don't drop them)
thats all i can think of right now hopefully more latter
