EDITORIAL: Welcome Aboard

Starting a businesss is always a risky situation. Starting a
magazine, especially a weekly like this one, is even more so. The
difficulty is compounded when you look at the fact that we don't
report what the corps and coppers would consider to be mainstream
news. But we have what all good business men and women should have
. . . determination . . . and hopefully in the months and years to
come we will continue to bring to you the news that you need, and
the information to give you the edge.

'The Fish' Goes Up River

(CHICAGO) -- Earlier this week, Jimmy 'The Fish' Pagelli was
sentenced to 8 years at the Joliet prison. This incarceration caps
a six month long trial that ended two weeks ago with Pagelli's
conspiracy conviction in connection with the death of Chicago
businessman Ronald MacFrier.

Dispite the fact that the evidence presented was circumstantial,
state prosecutor David Hanson succeeded in convincing the 15 member
jury that Pagelli orchestrated the murder of MacFrier in response
to MacFrier apparently welching on an agreement to purchase 22
stolen Fairlight cyberdecks.

Pagelli's defence relied on eighteen character witnesses and
generally portraying Hanson as a politician out for election. But
even that failed to convince the jury who returned a guilty
verdict only 4 hours after retiring for deliberations.

EDITOR'S NOTE: It is interesting to note that David
Hanson earlier today announced his candidacy for city
council. These elections will be held the third Tuesday of
January.

Circut Judge Ziad Thompson sentenced Pagelli to eight years, out of
a possible 30, citing that the circumstantial nature of the
prosecution was responsible for the reduced sentence.

Lawyers for Pagelli have filed appeals while Pagelli rests in
Joliet. Pagelli will be eligible for parole in 41 months.

Ares Cited

(SEATTLE) -- Ares, the popular weapons manufacturer, was cited
this week for allededly failing to test its weapons properly.
Citing a large number of malfunctions, federal officials ordered
Ares to disclose all documentation as to the quality control
procedures used. The corporation was given 21 days to comply or be
forced to act on a mandated recall order.

A spokeswoman for Ares was quoted as saying, "This is ridiculous!
Ares has always maintained a high level of quality assurance in all
of its projects." When asked if Ares planned to disobey the
diclosure order, the spokewoman declined to comment.

Jack Two-Cloud, the head federal marshall investigating the case,
stated, "We have not yet ordered a recall. We have faith in the
quality control measures of Ares, but we feel that the high number
of failures in Ares weaponry, especially their automatic models,
warrants an investigation."

Ares officials have accused this investigation of being politically
motivated and designed to further restrict their large market share.

On the announcement of the mandate, Ares stock dropped eight points
as stockholders scrambled to sell their endangered stock.

Demos Sighted Again; Aids Coppers

(SEATTLE) -- In what has become an almost clockwork occurance,
Demos, that masked vigilante, once again took to the skies last
Friday.

Demos, so named because of his reported demonic appearance, was
able to stop three burglars as they attempted to rob the home of
Richard and Mary Stilsen in northern Seattle. The Stilsens were
apparently asleep and awoke to the sounds of a scuffle. Upon
investigating, Mr. Stilsen discovered the three suspects drugged
with a narco-ject and bound. "Standing in the window was Demos, who
immediately jumped from the ledge, spread his wings, and flew off,"
reported Stilsen.

Lt. Nosaga Triato of Lone Star, was quoted as saying, "We have no
idea who this guy is. We only know that on three occasions in the
past month, he's apprehended would-be criminals."

Popular conjecture is that Demos is a paranormal and local Humanis
clubs are banning together to offer a reward for his capture.
According to the Humanis leadership, they feel that Demos's
"unwarranted assaults make him a menace" and they are demanding the
the Seattle authories do something to apprehend the vigilante. In
response, the authorities have said only that they are investigating
the matter.
