] Oh, Minotaur, I read both my SRI and Grimore I and couldn't find where you
] got that strange spell lock idea from. Is that SRII? Can you please qoute
] your source of inspiration?

If you are talking about the Conditional Combat Spell, it is in the
basic blue book (SR I) pg. 80. It is under spell declaration where
they speak of making combat spells conditional. I have tacked on
the concept of the spell being 'Sustained' since they do not make
the Drain test until the spell activates.

] There is also one problem with your idea Minotaur. Spell locks can only be
] used on sustained spells and must be attuned to the target. So you still need
] the mage to be present for it to be of any good, because you can't have a
] machine activating a spell and the mage has to sustain it until the spell lock
] is set.
]
I am sorry I find no reference, nor am I quite sure what you mean
by "attuned to the target". In the basic blue they make specifc
reference to "nailing" a spell lock somewhere (p. 79). I also
interpret the rules to be that since the Combat Spell is has not
be activated, it qualifies as "sustained" so it can be Spell Locked
to the room. Like I said in my disclaimer, this is *real* rules
raping- tap dancing in the grey areas- stuff. I never said it was
patent working rules.

]
] Sidenote: If such a spell lock could be made it would have to go off when
] the door opened. That means there would be no way for anyone to pass through
] the doorway without getting blasted. To do otherwise would require the spell
] to be directed by tech (i.e. the maglock). Not so useful.
]
Not really, the "conditional" limit in the book has no set
parameters; you could make it "This Sleep spell will activate
once someone goe through the door w/o knocking 3 times first."
Once again, my above disclaimer holds...

] You mean apples and soy-apples don't you?
]
Apples? Oranges? What are those, everything is soy for street
scumm chummers... :)
