Concerning autofire recoil:

Some people say that the rules are too harsh, and that the chances for hitting
someone with a 6 round burst from something are too low. Well, in my 6 years of
the National Guard, I have had training on and the chance to fire weapons like
M-16 rifles in both burst and autofire mode, M-60 machine guns, and .50 caliber
machine guns. My opinion is that the rules are just fine.

As far as bursts from an assault rifle, we are trained to only fire 3 round
bursts, as any bursts larger than that are very hard to hit with unless you are
firing from a supported position. I do however feel that weapons with a 'burst'
selecton available should be able to fire a 3 round burst for only 2 points of
recoil. But larger bursts should remain at the +1 for each round fired.

Light machine guns: These are supposed to be high volume of fire weapons; 6 to
8 round bursts are the standard. But, you are definately supposed to fire these
weapons from some sort of supported position, vehicle mount, etc. Firing one of
these "from the hip" is extremely difficult. Usually, you have to sling the
weapon on a harness or something just to carry the thing, let alone fire it
unsupported.

Heavy machine guns: (and as far as recoil, thats what a vindicator is, in my
opinion) These HAVE to be fired from a tripod, vehicle mount, etc. They have
such a kick that they usually can shake a TANK, so imagine what firing one of
these from the hip would be like.
Note: As I interpret it, the +2 modifier is only for UNCOMPENSATED recoil. In
other words, a 10 round burst, with 8 points of recoil suppression from some
sort of mounting, would have (10-8)*2 = 4 points of recoil. Not bad for that
kind of damage producing attack. Also, remember that vindicators and such
should probably be vehicle mounted weapons, that have targeting systems to help
improve their accuracy.

Well, thats my opinion on the subject. Any coments are welcome.
