would seem to me that they really have no purpose being in a Shadowrun
group. The reason being is that they have nothing to offer to the other
members of the team. The Nega-Mage can protect himself, but not others,
against magic. All the other archetypes provide needed services, the
Nega-Mage only helps himself. I think a better rule would be that the
Nega Mage can add dice to his and other's resistance tests against magic.
This would have to be more dice than a regular mage could use. Under my
role the Nega-Mage could coordinate defense for the whole team while the
other runners fight or do whatever else is required. A Nega-Mage would
use the Magic attribute to calculate the number of die avilable and he
would use the normal rules for magical spell defense.
A nice rule would be that the Neag-Mage could allocate a number of dice
equal to twice his Magic attribute. That figure is preliminary, I'd
welcome suggestions for a more approopriate number. Cyberware would
reduce his Magic attribute and thus the number of dice in the normal way
for magicians. Another advantage of my method is that the Nega-Mage's
power is not all-or-nothing after a cyberware addition.
I'd like some feedback on my idea. Anyone?
