The Nega Mage receives a pool of dice equal to twice his magic
rating. He may use these for one purpose: spell defense, rolling
against a target number of the spell's force plus the
Initiation level of the caster. The Nega-mage is still
completely immune to magic (like healing spells). I say
force because the NM's power ignores skill: no matter how
good you are, his field is not a skill. But Initiation helps
because Initiates are naturally more powerful (not
necessarily more skilled) than regular mages. Anyway, every
2 successes cancel out on of the caster's. This let's NMs
help the party.
Other options: The NM rolls even against personal attacks: taking out
the automatic aspect. . .The NM still loses his power as stated in the article
. . . I freely admit I'm not an expert on SR magic, and this idea just popped
in-I haven't thoroughly checked it yet.
By the way, Carter, I'm on my way.
