I'd understood it that grounding spells down a quickening did not
destroy the link to astral, but rather just made use of it. Also, though I am
not entirely sure on this one, I believe that a quickened spell has to be set
up to a _someting_, which would mean that it has a physical portion, though
certainly not component, to the spell. Therefore, even if all you are zapping
is the portion of air, geographical coordinates, someone's bum that the spell
is quickened to, you can still zap the hell out of it. Effects will vary, but
all will only affect that very limited area. This, according to the "gospel" of
St. Flare (as interpreted from the original sessions with god).
