Subject: VCC: Are we trashing trash?

Robert;
I'm sorry I'm commenting on this a little late, but this has been
mulling in me for some time and has just come to the surface. Allow me to
give some seemingly meaningless background about myself that will actually
contribute to the point:
Here at UD in the Mech. Eng. Tech program (4 yr bachelors and not
that ITT associates crap!) they teach us that in design you should try to
draw heavily upon available resources. After all, why reinvent the wheel?
Combine that with an Army attitude (I'm going to be commissioned into the
Corps of Engineers after graduation, yes!) that says: "Take what you have
and make it work."
My question: Why are we trashing the RBB stuff? From what I
remember about that stuff it was a decent abstract system for expressing
vehicles and how they worked. Granted, there were no construction rules
and the rules for resolving combat *choked*, but there was a good core that
could be built upon. If rules could be made that only modified the current
rules we would reduce the work load tremendously and make the rules more
accessable to the general public (and the folks at FASA :] ).
Another question/point? Would riggers have the facilities to
*construct* cars in the Shadowrun world. Isn't that what GM, Ford, Honda,
Chrysler, Ford, Ford, Ford, and Fnord are for? I won't go into depth here,
I just wanted some reconsideration here. I *do* think that riggers should
be quite adept at building drones. I think drone construction rules would
be very helpful and should have a high priority.
I think I have thrown enough wrenches into the works. These are
not meant to be insulting or inflammatory, just probing. (Does that make
me Geraldo Revera? Can I have my own show?) Return flames can be MIRVed
to the below address.
