by Shaman Smasher (haven't read it though):
1) Barret rifle. There's not one listed in the rules, but sounds like an
obsensely powerful sniper rifle. Image a gun with a damage code even better
than the 14S on the Ranger.
2) On manifesting astral bodies, a magician always could manifest his astral
form on the physical plane. Can't find it in SRII, but its on page 86 of
Grimoire II. "Also, an astrally projecting character can become visible on
the physical plane if he wishes. Once visible, he can speak to people on
the physical plane. However, he cannot touch phycial things, cast spells at
them, or in any other way directly influence the physical world. He can
still only affect other astrally active beings.
As for knowing he's not an initiate, if your and initiate you know it. It
doesn't happen by accident.
3) Grounding through a fetish?!? You sure that was a fetish and not a Specific
Spell Focus. Fetishes only have any resemblance of an astral presence when
the mages goes astral and they appear on his astral form. Of course the
writer could have screwed up. And Reverend said something about the story
in the front of SRII implying the same thing, but the mage in the story was
using some type of focus, probably a spell lock.
